I know, I know, this is a moneysaving site, but I have attempted to clean it in the past and had the same problem with my last oven, it seems to get to a point of no return where nothing seems to shift it and it seems a waste of time to try.
Has anyone ever used a company that clean ovens, do they get it really clean?
Does anyone recommend a good oven cleaner product in case I go down the MSE route? Ive never found anything that really works
Its not really the wire shelves, they seem ok, its the back, bottom and door. Its a double oven but because we rarely use the top bit as an oven, thats nice and clean

I've heard baking soda is the thing to use, but not having tried it myself I googled it and came up with the following link. It's cheap, so if it doesnt work - all you've wasted in a bit of time and energy.
Wouldnt let me post it as a link, so cut and paste and stick www. in front!!

We used Ovenu (thanks to Pimento on here) and came up like new - highly recommended. Franchises all over the country so just have a look on their site0

I have had an oven cleaner in in the past (didn't have to pay, he owed us a favour!!), and he did get it really clean. What he used was caustic soda, and it did a great job. He only works locally though.
You will probably find you can get the oven back off, look for some screws - it will be easier that way. My door comes up really well with Cillit Bang, as for the bottom, you should be able to leave something on there for a while. I always make sure I line the bottom of my oven now.
The best thing to do may well be to get it cleaned, and then clean it every week or something. Maybe I should practice what I preach!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I saw an OvenU on the internet in our area.
The oven is built in, I wouldnt know how to remove bits of it.
The trouble with the baking soda idea is that it appears to work over a long period of time, reapplying every day, I dont know that Im that patient0 -
I use oven pride and it worked on my oven. I keep on top of cleaning it now, but it rescued it from being filthy initially.0

Oven Mate is pretty good, but when my oven needed a really deep clean I found my steam cleaner did a great job. The steam softens the gunk which you can then wipe away with an old cloth ( well more like a dozen old cloths in my case)
If you can take the oven door off it`s hinges it makes the oven easier to work on.0 -
Difficult to know whats best, I really dont fancy doing it with oven pride as its caustic, I also dont like the idea of the hard graft if Im honest. I would be interested in a steam cleaner but looking at some of the prices, its similar to getting it professionally cleaned. Some prices in this area suggest I would pay £45 for a double oven, although obvously I would be able to use a steam cleaner over and over.
What else do you use yours for.0 -
Yes - cleaning the oven is one of the worst jobs around the house - money well spent I think!0

My friend paid £75 for her oven and hob to be cleaned and they did do a good job
I clean mine with Mr Muscle and no matter how filthy it has been it has always come up really well0 -
Try and get hold of a cleaning agent called St Moritz. But beware - it is REALLY strong - the fumes alone can be dangerous. It will eat through anything0
