Fed up with my energy provider!!!!!

I just came back for holiday and i've learned that i owe E-on around £400+. from what i understood they are telling me that i am not paying my bills with them. that for me is outrageous. i do not know why or how they came out with that as my account has always has funds around the times that they said that the £400+ came about/accumulated i.e. october and novemeber time. i have just had enough of E-on. i am currently paying £90 but for me is still high because i have always been very conscious of what i use at home, i turn off all appliances that needs turning off (and not on standby) and i use energy-efficient light bulbs and i give them readings whenever they want or have to.. i want to switch providers as i don't think E-on knows what they are doing.

    Hi gino_76ph,

I am just a little confused by your post :o so I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple of questions.

Have you been paying by Direct Debit? did E.ON say that your monthly amount is not enough to cover your usage, so the account has fallen in to debit?

Or have we been trying to collect a Variable Direct Debit?

Is your account billed up to accurate meter readings?

I would contact E.ON and go through the account with the agent, also ask for your usage in kWh as this will enable you to do comparisons and check you are on the best tariff for you.

If you need any more info, just ask.

    Helena :)

That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • Dear Helena,

thank you for replying. i'll try my best to answer your questions

yes, i have been paying monthly via an arranged direct debit. my account is billed in an almost 100% accurate reading (either via online or some person who comes knocking on your door to check your meter) since i complained last time re: paying too high for my bills a few months ago.

i am still waiting for E-on to get back to me and i have decided i will move to a different supplier unless E-on explains and lowers even more my monthly payments.

as i have written in my opinion i don't deserve to pay £90 or more for my monthly electricity and not paying from october (hence the reason why it accumulated to £400 with E-on telling me and from what i understood there was not enough funds in my bank account which is totally false!!!).

in this time of austerity and being extra conscious of what we use these big energy companies just take advantage of you. i have given E-on so many chances to redeem themselves and in this time they have failed me and i am just fed up.....

    Hi gino_76ph,

Thank you for explaining the situation.

As I said in the previous thread, it sounds like your monthly payments have not been enough to cover the amount of energy you have used/are using.

Therefore, the balance has built up.

This means the Direct Debit will need to be set higher, to cover the balance and cover ongoing usage.

If all of the meter readings are accurate, it does sound like the bills are correct, have you checked the tariff is the best for you?

Have you spoken to Energy Efficiency regarding the amount of energy used.

Sorry if you have already said, but is your property all electric, including heating/water etc. ?

    Thanks

    Helena

  • Dear helena,

i can see what you are saying about the direct debit should be set=up a bit higher but overall i still do not agree with me paying that high because of what i have already said on my first letter.

i am still awaiting E-on to get back to me to discuss the issue. my property is only electricity and no gas. the built-in stock heaters inside the flat are all electricity. i do have a portable heater but obviously i don't use it 24 hours as i am at work and i do timer it so as not to either burn my flat or myself....

I am not a big fan of energy companies but in this case I really feel sorry for you Helena. Well done for referencing to the previous thread. I know it's none of my business but can't help with putting several lines here!

Reading the other thread makes me (and others) think: How can one not submit/ provide an accurate meter reading but complain about their bills simply based on "I don't think I should pay that much/ I don't use that much electricity"?!!!
