Have you never been sitting behind some adoring parent who is standing up, taking photos of his child?

Why not just enjoy the play - the performances of all the children - and buy a DVD.

That is the only reason that I don't like photos being taken during performances - I can't see behind the happy snappers! On the point of law, I understand that there is NO law which forbids taking photos of own children. My son's school says that parents can take photos before and after, and if they want they can buy the DVD - I like that idea.

we all know the reason that the schools dont like you taking pics is cause we are all on red alert in case little jack or emilys dad/brother/uncle is a peodphilie but its acceptable to have a teacher film the kids then sell the dvd to anybody who wants to buy it how can they make sure this dvd does not get into the hands of a pervert

    its just ridiculous

it may be ridiculous but the schools are holding up their end keeping to policies that are there in the first place because of parents complaining imo, what the parents do with the dvds after they have bought them is nothing to do with the school.

If the school have a policy then fine let them be upfront and say it rather than pretend it has something to do with the data protection act, which it clearly doesn't.

but how can it be proved the teacher taking the dvd isnt a pervert and there are no laws stating you cannot tak pictures of your kids in a public place

As the teacher will have gone through a CRB/Disclosure check you can assume that there is no evidence to suggest any wrongdoing. Can't really do much more than that.

  • I wish our school did a dvd of the performances, would be ideal for OH and family who can't make it. We can take photos/videos if we wish. Some of the mums I am fb friends with have posted photos on there and my kids are in the pictures - its not something I have a problem with as sometimes I'm quite grateful as I have forgotten my camera on occasions or not been able to get a good picture.

but a crb check will only tell you about somones past not their present or future
its gonna get to a point where to even go to school to pick your kids up youll have to have a crb check
