in Credit cards
I took out a credit card 11 years ago and unfortunatly let it rise. I took out PPI at the saem time and was paying around £100 a month up until I stopped it last year as I found out due to my employment I would never be able to claim. The Financial Ombusman has said due to it being taking out before a certain date in 2000 I have no claim. Any suggestions

Hi there
Was this taken out with a bank?
If so one of mine was from 2001 (lloyds) that was resolved by the FOS.
This was dealt with over a year ago though, so a few years there, not sure where you would stand on a credit card ppi when taken out in year 2000, but sure i have read of success.
Maybe it would also be a good idea to post on the reclaiming of ppi thread as on the link below, where i mainly post, and check the threads out there, maybe someone will post up who taken out a credit card the same time as you here.

What are you hoping to achieve here?
Have you got something in writing confirming that you would not have qualified for the benefits?
Have you written to the card provider citing a missale?0 -
Hi
I'm not sure why they said that, as the previous poster mentioned you could look at the pip sections.
However, if the rationale behind the explanation you were given was that you have no claim because of the statute of limitations restrictions, then that is clearly wrong. The clock, 6 years, starts from the point of discovery of a mistake and cause of action established, so if you only realised this say 1 year ago then you are not time barred and should be able to reclaim back to 2000 including associated interest.
You need to go back and ask for a fully detailed explanation of what the issue is. To my knowledge their is no arbitrary date restricting your claim.
