Halogen heaters??

Hi I am moving in to a large single glazed property that has oil central heating..
have heard on the grapevine that halogen oscillating heaters are really cheap to run and i am considering getting one..

the LL estimates that our heating will be 60 pounds a month..

if when i am home alone in the day time ( as i work from home ) would running a halogen heater in one room with the door closed be cheaper than having my radiator on?

All electric heaters of the same rating cost exactly the same to run, as they are all 100% efficient. Halogen heaters are no cheaper to run than any other electric heater. Electric heating cost considerably more than oil per kWh, but you can't compare the cost of heating one room to the cost of heating a whole oil-fired system.

As said above, all electrical heaters cost the same to run for the same heat produced.

The advantage of halogen heaters, if you are sitting at a desk, is they can direct heat in a beam toward you; but they don't heat the room.

Much like a desk light can illuminate your desk, but not light the rest of the room.

I'd be tempted to ask if you could pay his estimate to him as an addition to the rent, and he settles your heating/electricity bills direct! (iyswim).
