if you change your mobile phone profile from 'general' to 'outdoor,meeting,silent' what does it actually do?

I can change ringtones, volumes, notification alerts.0

It just changes the notification settings. So "Outdoor" will make your ring tone and message alerts louder. "Meeting" usually sets everything to vibrate and "Silent" keeps everything er, well, silent.
You can normally also create your own profiles to suit your own needs.0 -
