why do i bother!!!

hi all
just wanted to vent really, OH is at work and don't want to vent to the kids!
I have tried SOOOO hard these last couple of weeks to save as much money as I can, (oh works like a horse and our money never seems to go anywhere!) BUT in the last week I have had to have new glasses £120, dental bill £30 (usually £6 for a check up), we need 6 roof tiles chaps coming next sat £100, and then last night some upstanding member of the community smashed the rear window of our car!, so now waiting for a chap to come and replace it which will cost £164.50! (no point in claiming on insurance as have £75 excess and don't want to lose 5yrs no claims). So I aske myself WHY BOTHER!!!!!!. I know the money we have saved so far will help but BLIMEY!
:A I WILL NOT USE MY SWITCH CARD:A

these things always seem to happen when you think you've got yourself sorted. just don't let it beat you, keep your head up high and fight back, it'll work out in the end.
  • I find that. As soon as you've saved money something comes up. Normally car things with us though!

And *that* is why you bother!!! It is *because* you have a bit saved that it isn't a total catastrophe and (I'm hoping!) you won't need to *add* to your debts to solve the problem - that in itself is a major accomplishment!!!! :T

Check your policy, but I don't think you loose your no claims for windscreens, but not sure about other glass.

I think furndire is right, I had to claim for a smashed rear windscreen once and it didn't affect my NCD at all. Not even sure I had to pay the excess, or at least not the full excess, I think there is a different one for glass on most policies. Check with your insurer.

Yep we went down to visit some friends and our passanger side window was smashed and we just paid £50 excess and the rest was covered without being classed as a 'claim' if you know what I mean.

Worth checking with your insurance company as they may have providers that they would like you to use to replace the window although they may well let you get someone else to fix it.

Hugs to you, don't let the ***** get you down. Like queenie said imagine if you hadn't saved that money you'd be in even more debt.
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

Kidmum, I have sent you a Personal Message, I don't know if you have read it.
  • Oh Hugs - Definitely. :grouphug:

Its always the way here - You save up a few quid and then the car needs something or himself needs new trousers for work (How does go through them so quickly?) :grouphug:
Do ring your insurance chappies and see if a window claim wil cost you your no claims - Even with the excess, it would save you nigh on £100

Well done on saving up though -- My savings nearly always get blown before they've gotten anywhere!
