More Amazon Prime woes... and HDNL incompetence!

Options
Made two orders on Sunday evening, one a big pile of books for my ill and housebound mother-in-law, and three items for myself.

All were dispatched yesterday. My order was sent in three separate parts (not unexpected). The nice CityLink man delivered one half an hour ago (no arguments with CL in this part of London). The RM van delivered one, regular first class (grrr) at 7.30am (it's normal here for big parcels plus SD items to be sent out in a separate van as the mail rarely arrives before lunchtime, if it arrives at all). I presume the other, small, book will appear with the regular postie if he turns up this afternoon, which would seem unlikely as I got post yesterday and we do seem to get alternate day deliveries here.

Until the Christmas palaver, everything was sent out either via CityLink or RM SD, and I was happy with the service. I now feel that I'm not getting the service I've paid for, as RM First Class is by no stretch of the imagination a next-day delivery service - certainly not in this part of London, anyway.

It gets worse. My real problem this time around is my mother-in-law's parcel. I went bananas when Amazon's dispatch notification appeared yesterday saying it was being sent via HDNL. Now the main reason I pay for Amazon Prime is to ensure the bunch of incompetents at HDNL never get entrusted with any of my parcels. They usually vanish into a black hole at New Cross, delivery attempts may or may not happen, and the people who answer the customer service number (if they answer) are hopeless.

I had a good old barney yesterday (as yet unresolved) with Amazon about it being sent out via HDNL, but I just checked the tracking for the parcel and almost fell off the sofa.

It says...

Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility

Those incompetents at HDNL have sent my mother-in-law's parcel to South Wales. She lives in Newcastle!

Even bigger barney with Amazon coming up......

how do you know it wasnt mislabeled by Amazon?(and before you say it,it does happen)
  • If it were mislabelled by Amazon, then they would hardly know it was in the wrong depot that early, would they? They wouldn't have tried to deliver it before 5am! It went from Amazon to HDNL in Droitwich, and HDNL then sent it to Llanelli, despite the address having an NE postcode.

and I have seen many many Amazon items with the wrong or partial postcode
  • I'm sure you have - but I'd be very surprised if that were the case here, as the same dispatch address has been in their system – and used – several times.

Yes, it's never the couriers fault is it?

Just a side note from me, HDNL have been brilliant when ordering from Amazon, CityLink have been pants and state incorrect address constantly.

Not that it helps you, but just saying a lot depends where your situated.

Most couriers and delivery services use Sat Navs', so if your address is one which for some reason isn't often found on them then you may not get all your parcels.

2 of my mates whose properties are just over 10 years old still have problems with people not being able to deliver to them.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

Good luck OP, I hope you get your parcel.
HDNL still have one of my parcels from 25th Nov sitting in their Leamington depot!
Still has the message 'possible delay due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility'. :D
