Uh man, what a hit.
I had to get rid of my car a couple of years ago when the insurance went up about the same time as it failed its MOT. Glad I did it though in the end. I took the money I paid for insurance and spent that on hire cars over the year whenever I needed one. I guess if you need it for work/every day then it's a different story.

Oh no DMS, I hope the run does you good and helps you feel a bit better x
I have been told today that my 2nd job will be axed from Oct, so il be £ 250 down each month, so tonight we are going to sit and work out our plan of action as we are already saving for when I go on maternity leave in July
Apart from that, today has been quite successful, I have
* Kept UTD with the thread, although annoyingly I cant post from work
* Took HM lunch today and only brought jiffy bags and batteries for ebay, using ebay profit from last sale
* Read news papers online
* Picked up free bounty bag from boots using voucher and got lots of freebies inside!
* Checked online banking, all good
Have a good night everyone xLiving as simply as we can

I do unfortunately. I did toy with not having it but I live about 2 1/2 miles from the train station & about 3 miles from the station the other end to my place of work. I also am an essential car user so I need to get to different places as I manage teams in different buildings.
It is lucky I paid off my debt in Oct and that I have managed to save £1300 so I am not getting into any debt, but its really disappointing that all the scrimping & saving I have done over the last couple of months was for this.
Its ok going to go for a run and then try again - I am positive and I am not going to let all the knocks drag me down - I surely must have exhausted all the carpy stuff life has to throw at me by now - the universe is testing how strong my resolve to give up smoking is!:rotfl:

Today I have
- Checked online banking all is goods
- Worried about the CC as we have bought new furniture for new house, but I think this is in bulit after debt, we have been saving for 5 years to buy this house and have more than enough savings to buy and pay off the CC, so I am being silly really. I can only do 4 transactions a year from savings so need to make sure everything is sorted and do one payment to clear - On the MSE side I get JL vouchers so will get something back.
- Come home from work early as I have a steaming cold, hope to go in tomorrow before too much bulids up.
- Took lunch to work
- Store cupboard meals this evening.0 -

Anyway, today....
NSD!!!!!!!! (about time)
Made curry with left over chicken
Checked bank accounts
Made file for this years' statements/bills
Walked dog several times
Worked hard at work (honest)
About to have a soak in the bath with some Christmas "smellies"
Haircut tomorrow (not done since last March so really needs it) and looking forward to a bit of pampering.
Have a good evening everyone.:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Hello
Sorry to hear that you are having such a rubbish time Determined. Hope things pick up for you soon.
Erme - take care of yourself
Today:
Dealt with animals
Checked online banking - still no sign of missing cheques paid in before Christmas (this is getting boring now  ) OK apart from that.
Put chicken and a jar of cook in sauce which I was given (never buy the stuff myself) with some leeks and mushrooms in the slow cooker before work - meal ready when we got in, and it tasted ok. Also got the jar of sauce used up and out of the cupboard :T
Read news online and in free paper on train to work
LSD - relatively speaking, just the station car park  and a coffee in the canteen with some new junior staff I was giving an introductory talk to.
Not MSE for me, but for work, I asked PA to have another look at flights to the US, as the one she had picked out for me when I fly out at the beginning of Feb was nearly £1k return  and that was economy class. She managed to find one for £400 with Virgin airlines. I can't imagine they would be any worse than the foreign one I hadn't heard of that cost more than twice as much!
Walked round town at lunchtime and didn't spend anything :T
Did a survey for pinecone which had appeared in my inbox
Off to tidy up now, as I want to watch Hugh FW's new series at 9!0 -
What's wrong with your car determined?Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0
