i did get pulled over by police once for driving slowly and weeving around pot holes when he asked what i was playing at i said i was driving to the current conditions to which he had no answer lol

Reminds me of one from my youth when I was driving through Liverpool city centre after midnight in a clapped out old Escort.

I overtook a parked police car and then a little further up the road, went onto the wrong side of the road to avoid a massive subsided bit of road (this is the road that heads up to Mount Pleasant for anyone familiar with the area).

Immediately after the manouvre the blue lights come on on the parked up car and they accelerate after me. I slow down and watch them in the mirror in time to see their headlights drop down suddenly as they drive into the subsided section at somewhat above the speed limit.

After that they turned their lights off and parked up again.

Something to consider that may assist with your claim.

Under health and safety legislation an employer has a duty to ensure employees and visitors to their site are safe (as do the employee and visitor themselves) I would think it reasonable for the business to inspect the site on a regular basis to ensure that any risks are minimised. If there is evidence that the pothole had been there for a while then it might be argued that the business should have known about the risk.
  • Could be an idea to have a word with the trolley boys, there's a fair chance they would have seen it and reported it.

Good luck with Tescos. The one in Norwich is a nightmare. I drive a older megane cabroilet which has no strips on the doors to protect it so I always park in the far corner out of the way from other cars and loose trollys (there dont seam to collect them!)if possible. A few months ago i returned to my car to find a 6 inch dent on the rear quater quite high up. Im 99% sure one of the tesco lorry drivers hit it as they turn round near where I parked and there where no other cars nearby. Spoke to tescos to ask if they have cameras ect and they couldnt have been less helpfull. Just said to claim on my car insurance!

Luckly the paint wasnt to bad (just the top coat of lacker was damaged) so got dent devil to repair the dent for £80 and with a good polish its almost as good as new.

I was only going very slowly as the hole is literally 2 feet in-front of a speed hump and flow plates. The edge of the hole is sheer and has cut the sidewall of the tyre and dented the wheel.

There is no way of actually going around this hole as the entrance to the car park is one-way and quite narrow... I measured the hole, and have photos of a tape measure in the hole.. it is over 4 inches deep.

So every car that visited Tesco on the day will have damaged wheels, should make the front page of the local paper.

    You were driving too fast.

Supermarket car parks always have speed limit signs which normally show 5 or 10 mph.

If you kept to their advised speed limit I fail to see how you can damage a wheel beyond repair.

Well before the last 2 posts I was going to suggest simply going to the store manager and pointing out the issue and possibly some goodwill regarding the damage? Sounds unlikely but I'd still try, and then try again only more loudly and more publicly ;)

But, only if you are genuinly convinced that you could not have avoided it, because if you are the only one it happened to, welllll.......
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
