Changing tariff midway through Vodafone contract
Options
Hi guys,
Did a quick search for this before but didn't find anything later than 2008, so apologies if already posted.
I heard that you can no longer switch to a lower tariff midway through a Vodafone contract - is this true? You used to be able to switch down after 6 months. Would appreciate confirmation as it will affect my choice of phone/tarrif.
Cheers

If your tariff is YPL or Your plan, then yes, that means you cannot reduce it. However, do not choose a network solely based on the fact that you can migrate downwards at a later date, they do have a habit of removing this option.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Thanks for the info. I'm with Vodafone and will be staying with them, as we get a 20% company discount on line rental for using them, which likely makes any iPhone deal cheaper than with a competitor network (especially as I'll attempt negotation at time of expiry of my contract in 4 weeks time). However, I'm thinking it best to start off on a higher tarrif and then move down one or two at a later date.0

Bumping this in case anybody can help0

The same answer as Miss Keith.
The tariffs are Your Plan or YPL and you would agree to pay Vodafone a minimum amount for the duration of your contract.
You would be able to increase your tariff but you would be unable to lower your tariff. It would be better to start at a low tariff and if it is insufficient for your needs, you would be able to increase the allowance.0 -
How can I tell if an account it Your Plan or YPL? Mine just summaries the free minutes, texts and monthly costs0

View your most recent bill online.
For example, mine says:Your Plan comes with 1200 minutes, Unlimited Texts, Wi-Fi, Mobile Internet & Vodafone Passport (YPL 24IPN 1200m Utx WF VMI VP)0 -
Ahh ok. MY query related to a future tariff I would be renwing my contract and going onto. I'd be getting an iPhone and moving onto a 600 min, unlimited texts 24 month tariff. Doesn't give any clues on the tariff page I'm looking at.0

Sorry, I missed that in your first post.
As far as I am aware, all current tariffs are 'YPL'.0 -
Hi The Boss
You've already had some great advice here already.
I can confirm that all our newer plans are Your Plans. This means you would be committing to that plan for the length of your contract. Should you want to you can increase the plan at any time, but you would not be able to lower it further than it's original cost.
I trust that clears it up but if you need anymore help, just give me a shout.
Take care
Kirsty
