24 month contracts
Comments

I get a 40% discount off my line rental through work and based on my usage and the phone I'm using (HTC Desire HD), it worked out cheaper. Hopefully, I won't be with this company by the time I'm due for renewal so I'll be buying my phone outright and going sim only next. I like my expensive smart phones at the moment, if I move out of the telco field, I may not be as fussed about them.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

So the worst happens and you lose your job. You have a month or two's notice and a few months salary as redundancy pay. On an average salary and a decent redundancy package that could easily be £10,000 going into your bank account in a lump sum. So just hold £400 back to pay your phone bill. For some people a phone bill will be the least of their worries if they lose their job.0 -

That's really not average at all!I love surprises!0 -
It's average if you'd been working somewhere for 40 years I guess.0

Try reading some recent posts - it is clearly a problem for a considerable number of MSE members.0 -

Because some people are more fortunate financially than others.
Not everyone and their circumstances are the same.0 -
I've had my current mobile for about 4 years, I'd not have an issue with a 24 month contract.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
Best for everyone if you copy me and have a PAYG mobile which I probably put about £5 on every 6 months.
Mobile phones, can't stand the bloody things. How we ever survived without them before I'll never know.

I'm on a 24 month contract (19 left) for my mobile as it was much cheaper for me with my useage needs, with who I have to phone with it etc. My partner and I also have a 24 month contract (19 left) for our dongal internet as it was only £5 more than what we were paying for the PAYG one we had but had 3 times the internet usage per month! When my partners mobile phone contract comes to an end he will sign up to a 24 month contract. It works out cheap for us so it makes sense. With our mobile usage buying a cheap handset (or even using an old one in my case) and going PAYG would cost us more - doesn't make sense to do that!I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

My current phone is the first one I have bought and used a SIM only deal. Much happier with it. The phone has none of the Networks rubbish on it, gets updated quicker and when I want to upgrade/change I will sell it and buy something else.
No suitable for everyone I agree but personally I am delighted.0
