does adding a case to iphone4 give it better reception

i had an the phone with 3 but reception was krap.so took it back.the guy in the shop said if had the case on it the reception would be fine!!

It won't necessarily improve reception, more prevent you blocking reception.

There's quite a well documented fault with the iPhone 4 which, when you hold the phone covering a black line at the bottom left hand side of the handset, you bridge 2 connections in the phone resulting in a loss of all signal.

The salesman is referring to having a case over the phone which prevents you from touching this black bar and loosing signal.

As far as I know, there is currently no case for the iPhone that can significantly improve signal.
