24 month contract

Hi

I am on iphone 3gs 24 month contract which started last March (2010) with o2. Problem is that I am going traveling next month for a year or more so am looking to cancel the contract.

Now ive had several problems with my bill since I signed up, for example I had the my family bolt-on which allows unlimited calls and messages between a group of numbers, however i was getting charged for these calls on my bill at one point the balance had reach around 400 pounds.

I had been cut off my times from the network while this was being sorted, this continued most of last summer until they finally sorted it. Now could i use this as an excuse to get out of the contract as they did break my contract by charging me for this.

What are my best options of getting out of this deal. I currently pay £45 per month, and i dont fancy paying the rest of my contract out.

Any advise would be appreciated cheers

:)

Bit late to use it as an excuse to get out of your contract, even if they would allow it.

Can't see anyway out for you to be honest.
  • Best way to get out of your deal... ring them up, tell them you want to get out of your contract, pay them 14 x £45 = £630 (minus VAT) and then the contract is over.

If you are lucky they MAY let you suspend the contract until you get back but I highly doubt that.

They may also suggest that you sign the contract over to a family member but again, they may not too.

    Basically you are stuffed.

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.

You've no grounds to cancel, all you can do is as stated above pay it off. If you just leave it your credit file will be trashed by the time you get back (and for the next 5 years after) and collection agents will have been around to any address they could find for you. . .
  • You've no grounds to cancel. O2 made a mistake which they have now corrected, that was in the past, if you wanted to try and cancel using that as an excuse it's too late now.

You wont be able to suspend your contract unless you're in the armed forces and are being deployed.

You wont be able to transfer your contract to somebody else, O2 don't allow it.

I'm afraid you've commited to a contract and you're now stuck with it, if you want out if it you're going to have to buy yourself out of it.
