Sainsburys Self Service Checkout Ripping Customers off

I know I'm not the only person to have experienced this:
If you go to a Sainsburys Self Service Checkout (I'm assuming country wide, but I've tested in a couple of locations) and you have something thats on 2 for 1 special offer. If you scan both items and put them in your bag the discount is not processed. The only way you get the discount on your final total is to press the finish button, then the go back button then Finish and pay once again, this seems to trigger the calculation.
Has anyone else noticed this? And if so who do we contact to get the problem rectified? If you don't believe me go and check it out
If this is indeed more than just London related, can you imagine how much money Sainsburys has made/saved by not giving people the discount they are owed?
Thanks
Tom

Hi
when you press your method of payment ie card or cash
this automatically does the deduction - unless of course there
is a problem with the system and this would affect the discount at all tills and not just self-scan

Like 'smokey112' said, when you select your payment method the total will change.0

So to be clear the discount is applied before you pay.
And this is a rip-off in what way?0 -
It never shows the discount until you get to the payment screen... all you are doing is going to the payment screen and pressing backwards.
Next times just go through the whole process and it'll work fine. If it doesn;t go to customer services and ask for a refund! Then write a letter of complaint and get an appology gift card!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Must admit I always use self checkout in Sainsburys and have never had a problem, as others have said - it takes it off at the payment screen x0

i cant understand how you say it is ripping people off when the deals are taken off at the end anywayIf You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0

The discounts are removed at the end on a normal checkout as well. We get customers shriek 'They are 2 for £2' they see the price sign thing. There are a few discounts where it gets knocked off as soon as the final item of the promo is scanned. Example here is Domestos bleach at 2 for £1.50.
I have no idea why the discounts knocked off the end/as soon as the final item of promo is scanned is so random. Its has nothing to do with the depts of the products in question. Some have changed how the discounts have been knocked off.
To the person that started this thread, have you been charged the price quoted before you press the payment button? If so, you have probably picked up something next to the promo item.
Read the ticket. If the ticket has a red flash to the left of it, that shows its part of an offer. If you pick up an item with no red on the ticket, its not part of the promo.
TBF, I did go to a larger Sainsburys before Christmas and purchased some cheese which isn't sold at my store. It was £1.39 each or £2 for 2. The discount never came off and I took a supervisor to the cheese with my receipt. The supervisor apologised and gave me 78p in change as its not been updated on their store's database.

Expect a letter from sainsburys saying that the discounts of the offers are taken off at the end. Don't be surprised if you don't get a penny from them.0 -

If you went through a manned checkout, the discounts are knocked off as soon as the cashier presses the enter button. The only difference is that you don't see the running total of the shop from a customer point of view.
Thanks

It is not a scam. If you buy something which is £2 each and is on offer for 2 for £3. if you are expected to pay £4, then that is a scam UNLESS one or both of the items aren't part of the offer.
Its very confusing when some flavours aren't part of the offer. This is very time consuming for us checkout/CSD colleagues. It should be all flavours, not some. For example when we have the 2 curries and 2 sides offer for £5, only about 6-8 curries are part of the offer, yet we offer about 12 of them in store.
we'll see if 'every little helps' you and your cohort of highway men, robbing us decent honest folk of our hard-earned dole money! if sainsbury's were a person, it'd be karen matthews - looking like the innocent party, but it's only after a few extra quid to line it's skanky pockets*
*note to sainsburys - post made in jest, please don't sue. i infact love your store, in particular, your pastry counter at the salford branch. man, i love dem almond croissants. so much so, i've had to sign up for the gym to lose a few extra pounds that i've accumulated over the last 12 months. again, please don't sue. loads of love, brettcta xxhelpful tips
