Awful Smell in Cupboard

Options
Hi All,

Within one of our kitchen cupboards there is an horrendous smell coming from it. Only one cupboard is affected within the kitchen, and despite how many times it is washed the odour does not go away.

Does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked below and behind it?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • Dead mouse? We had a bad smell from a cupboard unit, turned out to be a dead mouse or similar the cat had brought in and hid and died under the cupboard.

How long has the smell been going on?

reckon you need to remove the unit and have a lookee behind/under it.
    Get some gorm.
  • Prise the kickboard off at the bottom and shine a torch in - might be dead mouse. One of the most revolting smells in our kitchen came from (I'm ashamed to say!) a cauliflower that fell out of the corner carousel and disappeared into the gloom at the back. A month later, I had to lean in, gagging, to remove a slimy stinking bag of green gunge....

    Thanks guys.

The cupboard is on a wall, there is nothing immediately below it and behind it is the wall of the house leading to outside and there is nothing there that would cause this smell.

The cupboard is pretty empty usually and never holds food in fact all that it stores is cups and plates.

if its an outside wall the cupboard is on - could there possibly be mould behind the cupboard that you cant see?

May be under the floorboards the cupboard sits on in that case? A dead rat or mouse can stink to hell after a wee while!

How about taking the cupboard off the wall and removing it to another room to see if the smell goes with the cupboard or stays with the room?

I wonder if it is connected with glue used in its construction?
