In light of yesterday's expose in the Sunday Times that boilerjuice.com is just a front for alleged profiteering oil supply company DCC Energy does anyone know if there is a truly independent comparison site for heating oil prices ?
Also, how can I find out all of the brands owned by DCC so I can avoid them ? Their website dcc.ie only lists a few.

I have found that the cheapestoil.co.uk site is pretty impartial as well as not making money on commission

Great work you are doing here compiling the lists of DCC owned companies.
  • Did you see the news yesterday? DCC have just bought Pace Fuelcare, who operate across the midlands and the south. Yet another opportunity to pull the wool over our eyes!

As soon as the Renewable Heat Incentive comes out, I'll be swapping to wood pellets.
  • Are Boiler Juice trying to justify future price increases by scare stories such as the ones they are currently spreading on their website.
It just sickens me that they look for every advantage to rip off the poor consumer.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, bring on the Renewable Heat Incentive then I'll be switching to wood pellets.

    From http://www.insidermedia.com/insider/midlands/47101-flogas-snaps-warrington-firm/:
Flogas, the Leicester-based liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) company, has acquired LPG specialist Metcalfe and Evans. Warrington-based Metcalfe and Evans will become “a valuable asset” to the commercial arm of Flogas, said managing director Henry Cubbon.
So the DCC World Domination campaign hasn't stopped at Heating Oil

And in case you're wondering why I posted this here, Flogas is one of the biggest suppliers of LPG in the UK (and probably the most expensive for domestic LPG by quite some margin) and is owned by DCC!

There is a truly independent site for both diesel (red and white) and heating oil, being put together at the moment. It has no ownership issues in respect of GB Oils or any other fuel supplier, it is owned 100% by people who are not in that particular field, and who will quote only the prices given by the suppliers on the site. Every supplier in the Country is able to go on, so there will be no favouritism basically.

Part of the commission earned by the company will go to a children's charity, and they themselves don't take the client's payment, they pass the payment details and order on to the supplier, so there's no danger of any funny business there either!

I would like to pass on the name of the site, but I am new to this forum and am unsure as to the rules as far as that's concerned, so I don't want to start off on the wrong foot. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.

I can't see there's any problem sharing the name of the website. You probably can't provide links as you're new here. But I've seen people list websites with spaces e.g. www . bbc . co . uk - then someone else can re-post it properly.

by the way - welcome to MSE
