why persist in slating individuals on here who have also had negative experiences with them? Hardly constructive and very unhelpful for the OP IMO.

Not the case. The *individuals* in questions have a history of bad mouthing recruitment agencies and the industry in general. They cannot be considered reliable sources of information as they are incapable of remaining unbiased.

At the end of the day however it is up to the OP to sift through the replies and decide if they are helpful or not and then to use that information to help make his decision.

Factually untrue in my case. I related my experiences and advised caution on one thread only. Does that invalidate my opinion? No, it doesn't.

Please keep your posts factual or your fingers off your keyboard. Your choice.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Perhaps the fact that you are in recruitment would render your opinions biased and therefore unreliable. Your idea of "bad-mouthing" is actually opinions based on our experiences. No one said you had to like them or agree.

The most sensible thing you have written. So why not follow this yourself and stop trying to be the decision-maker on whose opinions should or shouldn't be listened to.

As you & the other 2 have axes to grind it is pretty clear for those following the board whose opinions should be ignored.

Wow, you still have your knickers in a twist from an old thread :rotfl:

    Which one?

The one that you do not know how Recruitment Consultants work?

    or

The one where you offer incorrect tax advice?

    or

The one where you give incorrect legal information?

    We have axes to grind?

Unfortunately those axes are going to remain blunt. Someone on this thread is hogging the grinding stone so he can continually sharpen the knives he thrusts into anyone who doesn't agree with his opinions.

You, Mr (ex?) Recruitment Agent, would like us to believe that you are unbiased. And of course you wouldn't dream of being vindictive to anyone who dares to disagree with you would you?

    Of course you would.

I keep looking to see if you are capable of balance discussion. It would appear that the skill is beyond you.

The people who are deemed to be 'bad mouthing' agencies are basing their opinions on the negative experiences they have had when using them and is not based on assumption and hearsay.

This entire forum is ideal to warn people about dodgy traders, hidden bank charges, unreliable tour companies etc. etc. and I fail to see why people expressing their negative experiences with agencies should be any different.

There are some on here who have had a positive experience and have found full time employment, but as for describing those who have detailed their negative experiences, it is very unfair to deem their comments as 'unreliable'.

How can opinions be unreliable when their experiences are based of fact??

And you are not 'biased' in defending the industry then??

In fairness, this is a public forum and both sets of opinions have an equal right to be expressed.

However arguing like 5 year old school kids over who is vindictive and who is bullying is not helping the OP.

Opinions should not be taken as fact as they are based on someones personal experiances and they can vary wildly depending on someones expectations. Without people posting good and bad experiences it is not possible to gain a balanced view.

Thats just my opinion. Now behave before i send you all to a naughty step

One day some company will do what they say they will do and charge a fair charge.:T

Not doing the opposite of that which they promise and charge you a fortune for the privileged. :(

    Or maybe not:mad:

Im a Talent Manager (the person at my agency who is in charge of applications and interviewing!) in the IT sales sector and I can give you this advice:

Dont bother with High St agencies who deal with every role going (eg. mix admin, warehouse, call centre,IT etc etc). These would be companies such as Kelly Services, Reed, Manpower. They will be too busy, dealing with so many different types of roles they wont know their head from their !!!.

Stick with the Specialists and do an online search for the ones that deal in your area. Give them a call and introduce yourself, email your CV over, and then request a meeting. While just as busy as high street agencies, they will only have roles in the industry you deal with, so you have more options.

Dont expect the world. As someone in recruitment, I can tell you there are good and bad agenices. Unfortunatly, more bad than good and that gives us all a bad name. As long as you are selective and dont treat them like job centres, you should get some success (even if its just a few interviews). Even the gooduns (like me) can get bogged down with work - but the good candidates who are nice to me tend to stick in the front of my brain! If youre an A** to me, you will be filed under B for Bin - no matter how experienced!
