Hi.
I ordered a 2 three seater sofas in december from dfs but i now realise i should have got 1 three seater and 1 two seater because there is no way they will fit into my room. I have contacted dfs and they have said they will see if they can allocate it to someone else if they order the exact same item. If this is possible then all my worries are over but what if they cant allocate it to another customer then will i be stuck with it. Whats the worst casescenario here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Worst case scenario is that you find someone else to sell it to, or see if DFS will "buy it back" from you. I doubt either option will fetch much money.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Moral of story? Measure room and measure the sofa in the show room before you buy. But that's not helping much. Hopefully they'll be able to reallocate. Ebay?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

i hope it works out for you. nothing worse than being excited about getting something for your home, only to realise it not quite a simple as it should be.
is it , it won't fit in room due to room size , or won't fit in because of other furniture in there? if this is the case, could you take away other furniture from the room?0 -
Ebay one of them. I only have one reception room in my house whic is big, I have 2 dfs 3 seater sofas and tey do take up a LOT of room. I often wonder if I should have gone for a 3 and a 2 but there was only £20 difference in price and there are 6 people in my house even is some of them are currently smallMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Thanks. There is no other furniture in the room its just too small. Im so stupid.0 -
At least you relized before delivery, so hopefully DFS will sort something out (even storage until you sell it yourself).
My MIL had a suite delivered only to discovery the was no way of getting into her living room, very small hall and a staircase.
Anyway delivery man wanted to just leave it in front garden, in the end she sold it to one of them for £100:eek: leaving her out of pocket.. more money than sense.0 -
Or like me measure the room and find it's ok, measure the door and find that it's ok. But not allow for the fact that the sofa has to have space to turn in the hall in order to get into my living room! doh!. £30 IKEA delivery charge wasted!, but at least they just gave me my money back, no questions asked.
Although the delivery guys weren't much help, it was just "No, doesn't fit, back it goes" no time spent trying different angles etc.0 -

Don't beat yourself up over it. It will get resolved somehow. Life is all about learning from our experiences.
If you go on to make the same mistake again, then yes, you an call yourself stupid. Put this one down to a miscalculation...0 -

No it's DFS making all their furniture stupidly massive! Considering the size of rooms in the UK you'd think they would do the opposite. So many houses I've seen with tiny front rooms and massive sofas!0 -
Have you actually gone back to the store?
I would do that rather than phone them. Explain that you feel a fool and ask if there is any way you could swop one of the 3 seaters for a 2 seater.
Explain that you are happy to lose the £20 and fully appreciate that the other sofa will have to be ordered and will arrive later - offer to pay for the delivery cost of that sofa.
Even if you have to pay £50 for delivery (which I doubt would be that high) it will still be cheaper than the loss on selling one of the 3 seaters.
If you get them on a good day and you play it nice and polite then you may be lucky.
On a side note, I did a couple of days delivery driving for DFS and you wouldnt believe just how many people make this same mistake.
Remember that the furniture has to go thru the front door (and internal doors) never mind actually fit in the room. Modern apartments are the worst and (whilst you may be upset that your furniture wont go thru your front door) the delivery guys will be more upset after carrying up 4 flights fo stairs as it wont fit in the lift, only to have to carry it back down again.
I had one who luckily managed to borrow a scissor lift from nearby builders and we balanced the sofa on that and took it across his balcony and into his living room. That was after the hassle taking it up/down 2 flights of stairs.
The tip I got from that was - dont work for DFS delivering furniture.
