That's a bit vitriolic, I think the OP is right to post as they are concerned why they have been singled out.

The OP has been very rational, and even been courteous to post the final result on here. Not everyone does that, so at least the others in the thread can see they have contributed to helping her in some way.

What has she said that caused you to speak to her like that? I think you owe her an apology.

I think Pcombo might be a bit put out that someone has a contract mobile telephone.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I am helping her by facing the truth, That they dont need to give her credit even though she has a great rating.

But maybe i did speak out of hand in the first post.

No maybe about it, can you be the bigger person though and say to the OP 'I'm .....'?
  • With regards to the VAT, you'd have paid the extra anyway, as when the rate went up, it would simply have been passed on.

Apparently it's not unusual for three to decline applications via other retailers whilst approving those same applications made direct. It happened to me. Declined via Carphone Warehouse, (although other networks were prepared to accept me). I walked 100 metres to a three shop and was accepted immediately. The Carphone Warehouse assistant suggested it was something to do with them not wanting to pay commission
  • Can I just say that this happened to my other half who was also trying to get a phone from Phones4U, he wanted the N8 and the best package (and cheapest btw) was from T Mobile. He was rejected for this (bearing in mind this man has an impeccable credit rating) - they then tried for a Vodaphone package (£10 dearer) and amazingly this went through. He didn;t go through with this as he was so concerned about the rejection from T Mobile and we went straight home, rang his bank up to see if there was (or had been) any suspicious movement on his account. They said not. He then went for the credit report from a well known firm. No credit check for T Mobile at all was on there. There was one however for the Vodaphone deal. (He went back onto the credit report site a few days later and still no credit check from T Mobile). We decided not to go back to Phones4U and rang 3 (the network he is with at the moment). They offered him a great deal and he has stuck with them. He asked at the time did they do a credit check, he stated they did and had done one on my OH and it was absolutely fine.

I wonder whether this is a Phones4U problem, it certainly upset and worried my OH at the time and certainly when my contract runs out in May, I will not be going to them.

I've seen forum posts elsewhere suggesting that it is usually easier to get accepted by 3 if you apply online.

Thanks for that, pmduk - it does sound quite a possible explanation!

And thanks to all for the other helpful suggestions and comments.

I can report that I am delighted with my Tab, which does exactly what I needed it to do. I'm now looking at the best options to use it as a satnav*. The camera seems great too - we went to Wells Next the Sea on Saturday and I have a couple of great pics.

  • You can download the Aura app from the Android store for free and it puts the maps on your hard drive. Maps are available for quite a lot of the world. It's free to use for the first 12 months (I think) but after that you have to subscribe. Make sure you are linked to a wireless hub when downloading the maps, they're BIG!!!
