Is a oil heating burner covered by home insurance?

Guys,
Just wanting to get some opinions about claiming from my home insurance. The burner on my oil heating boiler had to be replaced at a cost of almost £300. Would this be covered with my home buildings and contents insurance? Plumber said that its prob related to the extreme cold weather that we have been having over Christmas, but also could be W&T.
Cheers.

Doubtful - you would have to prove that the burner was damaged by the cold weather & I can't see how it was. If water in the supply line froze and stopped the oil (oil pumps in the burner can be damaged by a lack of flow) then the boiler would lock out anyway.
Perhaps you could claim that somebody broke in and stole it:p0
