yep, think you're right there. maybe the 'like' button could be brought back? or perhaps 10 thanks = 1 likeability factor....something along those lines??
135 Thanks per Likeability Bar (with a 5 bar system) would suffice or would at least be a good starting point to see if its an accurate measure.0 -

think it depends which forum you're looking. do the competition threads have more 'thanks' clicked?? on grabbit, it's extremely rare for it to go above 100 per thread. so maybe it could be different for each forum board?:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

It looks like it might be 20 Thanks per Likeability Bar at the moment. The ITV competitions with large prizes can reach over 1000 thanks, magazine competitions are in the region of 700 - 800 so you're right, a different system would be needed for each forum.0 -
without meaning to join the compers queue (I've never understood that part of the forum dynamics) just to say that I liked the like button that I ceremoniously clicked when I read a blog or post that I liked :grinheart don't know if it was ok to do that
I just did it nonetheless :snow_grin so i'll miss that little button

Hi folks,
You're correct, the changes made yesterday are related to the likeability system but they are mostly back end changes to allow us more control over how it works. The previous system (using the like button) was hardly used and we feel we can present the most popular threads much better.
With the changes made, we can now collect data on thread popularity and tweak the system to display them in the best way. There's no point going into the the way it works just yet (it's more than just thanks) as we're still evaluating and will be making changes as we go. We also need to ensure the changes made have no negative effect on the Forum overall so we're still very much in test mode.
Once we've gathered and analysed enough data, we'll start up a thread to get some input from you guys.
Thanks everyone for your feedback and for bearing with us while we were down.

hi there
you appear to have lost a number of posts?
my thread
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2902738
was on 2 pages yesterday, now on 1 page only. I posted a number of prices and follow up information that is now missing...0 -
Hi fraser
A few posts on that thread have been removed by the forum team so it's not caused by Saturday's changes. Without seeing the reports I can't say why they were removed though.
AndreaCould you do with a Money Makeover?

I used to work for a major bank and no code updates ever took 8 hours!
AND
all updates were done at night to avoid unnecessary disruption!
:rotfl:
The loss of applications during 'live' hours would have rather more serious affect on the operations of a major bank than it would on MSE users who miss their fix, I suspect a major bank would have rather more resources than MSE to staff overnight upgrades.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
