Not Happy with 02

Hi all I'm new here

My Hubby bought my a new phone for Christmas all at once a problem arose, meaning when someone sent me a text it keeps coming to me about 20 times a day, on the 29th Dec when the 02 shop was open we went in told them they said that it was a problem with the phone that a few people had come in with the same prob.

They offered to send it away for a fix, we weren't happy but they said that's was what they where doing for them all.
So sent it away got it back on Friday the 7th Jan, Sunday the same thing happen so obviously the fix didn't work.
Back into the same shop and this we asked for a different phone Hubby told then it didn't matter if it was a dearer phone he would pay the difference, but they had no one in the shop with that authority and the "till" would not allow them to do that!!!!.

Hubby rang 02 customer service to see if their was someone there with the authority to help !!!!!!!!!!! well that was a joke, they told us that it was only the shop that could help us as it was an in-store purchase we said but the store wasn't helping us and ask where do we go now?? they said they couldn't advise us.

So I have a phone that has a problem what do i do now ????

You can reject it under SOGA if they can't fix it. Do a spot of reading on SOGA on the web, both government sites and law sites, then go back to shop and demand a working model or your money back with your contract cancelled.

Have a rejection letter prepared and be prepared to leave phone - with packaging in shop , taking a couple of pictures of your husband doing so.

If handset has generic fault, and shop have confirmed that, then it fails SOGA fit for purpose.

Worth checking on handset supplier's site and if they have a forum, there too, to see if fix is available.

Next time, do thorough web research on handset before taking out contract !!!!
  • Hi Guy's dad, I have phoned the shop concerned again and asked to speak to the manger, got to speak to him and ask if I was to come over today with the phone today would there be someone there with the authority to give me a refund, he offered to replace it with another phone but because of all the problems I said I wanted a refund. For a refund he has to ring someone else above him, so I am waiting for a phone call back from him.

Hopefully we can get sorted, by the way it is a pay as you go phone

    Thanks for you reply

PAYG? Thank goodness - much easier!

Good luck with refund. But be sure to Google for user Reviews on whatever handset you want. Suggest you also try CPW, by the way, as their PAYG handsets are mostly unlocked.
  • Just a little update got my refund woohoo. but I don't we we'll be using 02 again and yes Guy's dad we will be looking a reviews for any phones that takes my fancy I don't want to go through that a again.

I just hope that is the end of what was a really awful Christmas we had no water for 5 days and with a disabled child in the house it wasn't the best.

Thanks for your help Guy's Dad.
