What would you do with £1000?

I have £1000 to do something with. I could put it in an ISA but i'm prepared to do something a little more risky with it in order to get a better return.

What is the best thing to do with it?

This is a bit like asking, "what should I have for dinner tonight." And without knowing anything about you it's difficult to make a suggestion.

Is this all the money you have?
    What's the money for?
    What's the timeframe?
Are willing to lose it all?
    How old are you?
    How much do you earn?

    Etc. etc. etc.

Agree with the above comments, but 'blind' suggestion:

Put it in a stocks & shares ISA - use discount broker like Hargreaves Lans to avoid up front fees.

Middlish risk, reasonable prospect for growth: HSBC UK 250 or Standard Life UK Smaller Co's

People make decision based on what they read on this board, how are they supposed to know you are joking or not?
