Best way to phone home from Norway?

Work in Norway and phone the Uk on a regular basis-travel back to the Uk every 2 weeks. My mobile contract is currently with Orange and my calls from Norway add up to about £20. Would I save money if I bought a phone or SIM in Norway as some of my workmates do? Otherwise which company has the best roaming packages?

Have a look at "my europe extra" i use this when aboard just ask people to bell you

I would consider Skype and a local SIM with data.
