Barclaycard - length of time at an address

Randomly surfed the Barclaycard website. One of Barclaycards criteria for having a card:
Have had a permanent UK address for 3 months or more
Barclaycard Initial doesn't have that criteria according to their website - just be on the electoral roll.
I thought most banks would like customers to to live at the address for at least 6 months, or is it just Barclaycard being linient? Living at an address for 3 months isn't long.
Your opinions appreciated.

All lenders have different risk criteria.0

And it is only a guide. Whilst it is their minimum criteria, meeting it doesn't guarantee approval.
Chances are they would only approve someone who has moved three months prior if all other areas of their application, personal circumstances, and credit file, are above par.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I have a Platinum Barclaycard (received Jan 2010).
At the point of application, i had only been at my address 9 months and was not on the electoral role (never have been).
Card received @ 14.9% with a £13.4K credit limit.0 -

Why are you not on it? I take it you have a very healthy looking credit file then?
Have you been declined for other cards?
I always thought you HAD to be on the electoral roll to stand any chance of getting credit?0 -

Out of curiosity, did you apply for the card in branch? Planning to do this instead of online.
Did you choose the credit limit, or is it automatically generated?paulmcerlean wrote: »Why are you not on it? I take it you have a very healthy looking credit file then?

That's what I thought too. Or may he provided proof of address on the day like a utility bill or bank statement.
I think the bank located his credit report by typing his personal details (name, address, DOB) on the CRA systems, and found his credit details (as well as personal details).
On the credit report, it will say your current address, but will say 'not on voters roll'.0 -
Because i refuse to have my details sold.paulmcerlean wrote: »Why are you not on it? I take it you have a very healthy looking credit file then?

Not at all.
I have:
American Express BA: £9K limit (no balance)
Barclaycard Platinum: £14K limit (£104 balance)
Halifax Loan: £10K over 12months @ 8.9% (2 payments left)
3 x mobiles phones for the wife and kids
I believe its all salary based. I know some people swear that the electoral role makes all the difference, but i think a high salary and low debt are the make/or breakers on the deals.
In the past i have also had other CC's which are paid off and gone.0 -

Looks like they base their decision on using their internal systems more than their external ones.
Assuming you have banks accounts with Halifax and Barclays, you have higher chance of getting credit facilities with them, due to running the accounts well, been with them for a long time, have lots of products with them, good internal score, your address matches their internal systems, etc...
Did you apply for the Barclaycard online or in branch?0 -

Doesnt explain it really - mobile phone contracts, personal loans whilst not on the voters role.
Perhaps it's not as important as everyone makes out if you have a nice healthy credit file.0
