kazw - huge hugs, and prayers for you and your DH. You know that we're all here to help if we can, so please make sure you ask if you need anything - as pigpen says, PM if necessary.0

Kazwookie - hope that as a newbie you won't mind if I send some good thoughts your way. It all sounds very traumatic and stressful - and from what you have said you have more stress to deal with now you are home. Try to take care of yourself as well as others, and I'm sure there will be someone, somewhere on here who can help you with the insurance twits.
In an effort to redeem my inability to do much flying this week, before work this morning I managed to empty and refill WM, hang everything on the airer, empty DW, wash up the few pots that couldn't be done in the DW, confuse Mr and Mrs Dog completely by rushing around the house moving things which I felt were Not In The Right Place, and flew off to work at 7.00 am (still couldn't get a place in the Company car park mind, not at all sure where all this keeness for 2011 has come from). DH is at work until mid evening (when I'll be out!) so I intend to see what else has been left Out Of Place, and put it either in the "In Tray" I have created for him (I have one too!) or in other appropriate places. Need to make a cake for tonight when I get in, dinner, sandwiches, sort out washing that's dried, refill WM, and be changed and out by 7.40 pm - anything else achieved has to be a big time bonus. And I just hope that when I get home tonight everything is in the DW/WM/washed up/put away as appropriate.
I am carefully considering Pigpen's wish for me to sharpen knives this week. Is this wise?
I would also like to know just how Pigpen knows that I looked in my cutlery drawer two days ago and thought "this is bad, this is really bad ......"Work is not my Hobby0 -

Huge, huge Wolfy ((((HUGS)))) for helenjelly and Kazwookie and major healing vibes for Dad and OH respectively.
I've done nowt yet today - I reckon I'm mentally drained, tbh. I have looked at the lists and there's some stuff I can mark off as it either doesn't apply, or is kept done iyswim, so I'll post, then delete those items off my Word.doc as I'll just be doing stuff as and when I can this week.
Whatever else I don't get done today, I absolutely have to finish varnishing the new kitchen door; Mr LW intends hanging it on Thursday afternoon, when he finishes his next Early Shift.
We also have his pal "A" coming over this evening; he should have
his Decree Nisi by now, so I dare say we shall hear how the divorce is progressing - I'm hoping it'll all be reasonably plain sailing for him.
He's been picking my brains for food to make for the boys when they visit him; they go to him after school 2 or 3 times a week, and I think every other weekend. Only thing is, I'm a Veggie, and have never cooked for kids. What sort of things would anyone suggest giving 11 and 13 year old boys, that's quick and easy to do, and that the 11 year old can help make? (The 13 year old [STRIKE]is a regular dustbin[/STRIKE] loves eating, but would far rather play games on the PC or PlayStation than help prepare food):D
I have made some cheese straws for tonight - which have been renamed by Mr LW as "A"-food!:rotfl:
Anyways - to stop waffling and post my list:

Mainly its impressed upon me how badly we need new windows.we have the original windows of our house but the last owner (who should have known better and was an organisation that could have done it more cheaply) While we really love the original windows...especially where the glass is original too and wanted t refurbish them most have gone past it.
They areall non standard sizes, and few of them the same, so its going to be a huge job having timber and hopefully double glazed windows made in EXACT replicas of what is here now. We'll have to do it a room at a time I think.
I completely understand what you are saying. We need to replace huge original crital single glazed bays in 2 rooms and original french doors. They are so cold and condensation runs down them but they look nice.
I think you have to have double glazing now. I've had a couple of quotes but will be more before going ahead. It is going to cost a small fortuneThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Frustrating isn't it? Having DG is fine...a bonus really...but because it has to go by the listed buildings people to confirm its ok I'm guessing its going to be a slower and more frustrating process (in fact one window was rplaced rcently ..not dg....which is frustrating. Neiher is it ''in keeping''. Its going eventually, but just...why not have done it properly)
I love crital windows! I know they are not popular now, but they are beautiful and I like the clunk of metal closing. But condesation on them always seens bad. Do they make DG crittal windows now? would be much better for all those beautiful 20s/30s houses replacing with uPVC.
Doing well.....just floors now.I'm thinking of ....doing extra things off list!
