Domestic & General - any reviews?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Feel free to redirect me if it is.

The people providing my heating cover are a joke. They only answer the phone 9am - 4:30pm Mon-Fri and, despite, allegedly being experts, they seem continually stumped as to the problems I present them with.

I'm thinking about shifting to Domestic & General and wondered if anyone here uses them? If so, what are they like? Do they respond quickly? Are theiir people knowledgeable? Etc.

Thanks,

Monkey

Apart from BG, I thought all the organisations providing heating cover just had contracts with local plumbers.

So its pot luck if they are any good.

I have been very happy with BG except for the price they charge.

Surely by paying an insurance company to cover heating problems , when they in turn employ a local plumber, then the user is paying twice.
  • I did have DG, we had a new boiler fitted 5years ago and at least 6 times a year we had them out to fix it, it ended up being a local plumber who was employed by them to service & fix boliers etc.
Anyway - he told me they wont replace the boiler even if it keeps breaking down,t hey'll just keep patching it up.

Needless to say I've cancelled the cover bought a new boiler and he now comes out & services it for me.

If you can, put the money in an account you won't touch and use that if it breaks down, I know it's easy to say that, but I'm in the process of cancel all my cover policy's and put the money away.
  • Avoid like the plauge. I having nothing but problems with D&G!!

My annual service has taken 6 weeks for the local agent to come out today and have been told he can't come out due his van breaking down - that to me takes the p*** - sorry I waited 6 weeks for this and now have to wait another 3 weeks for the next slot to do the service and the plan expires 3 days after the new date.

What takes the bicuit is that D&G has only 1 repair agent covering a 20 mile radius from me!!!!

Sorry I am going to BG from now on.
  • British Gas is the way to go, huh?
