Asda baby event

I think each baby is different. We use Baby Dry and don't have a problem. Active Fit on the other hand were terrible so it really is trial and error.
Completely agree with you. We definately prefer the baby dry, keeps LO dry with very few overspills!! But find the Simply Dry cheap enough for leaving at others houses (grandparents etc) for emergencies!!
The only nappies we had major probs with was the Asdas own, so we decided to quick with Pampers!!0 -

daughter is due to have her 1st baby girl on 22nd feb, she has already bought most of the big stuff, pram, steraliser cot etc
i'm off to boots tomorrow to get a bucket load of there wipes that are on offer, as i think that they are cheaper than the ones at asda,
but what nappies should i get, i've only bought 1 pack of huggies newborn, for the hospital.
is there anything else on the leaflet that you think we should get?
thanks
It's difficult to say with nappies, it all depends on the size of LO. We were in size 1 for weeks, but I know others that either didn't fit or didn't for long!
We started out with asda's own nappies but found lots of probs with leakage, so pretty much always use pampers! I would definately recommend the "New baby" though as more absorbant!!
I would say lots and lots of nappies - I don't know where it all comes from, wipes, muslins and bibs! And lots of love and cuddles!
Have you/she signed up for all the different clubs, can get lots of free gifts and vouchers for money off. Will save you some!
Asda - huggies starter pack
Tesco - pampers box
Sainsburys - starter box
Aptimel - toy
sma - muslin
Huggies - sample of nappies
Boots - changing bag
Pampers - vouchers
The list goes on!
Hope that helps. Good luck to your daughter, is it your first grandchild?0 -
I'm due my second in a few weeks and even I won't be stocking up on nappies for this little one. We were told that my son would be between 7.5lbs and 9.5lbs with the antenatal measurements showing smack bang in the middle. So what did we end up with? A 6lb 8oz baby who fitted into prem clothing for a couple of weeks even though he was very overdue.
The Asda baby event is roughly every 3 months so I have some Huggies and some Pampers newborn. We mixed both brands with my son but now stick to Pampers. If I were you I'd suggest your daughter hold off on any big nappy purchases until you find the brand (and size!) that suits the little one. At the end of the day, she should only have to wait 2 months at most before she can stock up.
As for anything else to get, make sure there are plenty of muslin squares. I lost track of how many I went through each day and it didn't help that DS was formula fed through necessity so lots of dribbling while he got the hang of bottles. Have you got Sudocrem or Bepanthen (sp?) for nappy rash? Not tried the last one but I've heard it's better. Also, get some teething gel and some Calpol infant in advance as they can't use it until 2 months if I remember correctly but you can bet when your daughter needs it she hasn't got any! Oh and get some gripe water and/or Infacol to help with wind.0 -
The best things i have bought have been
asdas little angels nappies for when my baby was just born, they fit tighter than huggies or pampers and both me & my other half found them great, no leaks and they were well expandable so she wore size one untill she weighed 12 lbs (from the £1 a pack offer last year
)
tommee tippee bottle warmer & microwave sterilizer i use the sterilizer for feeding stuff at relatives houses my steam sterilizer was from asda too
tommee tippee breast pump was another good asda buy
clothes from george are pretty
but other bargains elsewhere
muslin cloths 12 for just under £7 best buys for baby ebay shop only lemon colour for this price tho
12 terry nappies from boyes for £8! i use them as towels & spit cloths - theyre ideal for little babies as towels
breast milk bags £1.49 for 25 in home bargains
& my council gave me a free real nappy starter kit, three very good real nappies 1 waterproof wrap allsorts of liners and a nappy pail i use the bin for the babys toys (never been used for anything else :P) & the nappies every now & then so her bum can breathe
as a resuls shes only had nappy rash twice
bepanthen and zinco (free sample) cleared it both times in 1 day

In the asda near me (a big one) they had a little swimmers box set with 6 swim nappies and a cuddle robe for £3 which, if you have vouchers from the newborn boxes, need only cost you £1. (£2 voucher) I got a couple today.:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0

I know some people have said that when the event has finished asda knock down the remaining stock to silly prices, but does anyone know if they do this online too? Theres a couple of online exclusives I'd be interested in if they were cheaper!0
