I got my mother one of the sim free phones suitable for pensioners ie loud ring, big buttons etc.

http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=90&mpe_id=11134&productId=349503&intv_id=11085&evtype=CpgnClick&langId=-1&catalogId=1008

The phone is unlocked for any network but Im not sure if I can use a 3 SIM card as they are 3G ?

I know I cant use a std sim in a 3 phone but can I use a 3 sim in a std phone?

Thanks
Paul

    the rule is

    if the phone doesnt have 3G then you cant use a 3 mobile sim card.

    you can use a non 3G sim from another network in a phone bought from 3 but the phone would have to be unlocked.

    so to sum up in that phone she cant use 3 mobile, perhaps ASDA or IKEA mobile is a better choice.

    I've seen these type of phones in magazines and none of them have ever been 3g, so no, I doubt it'll work with a 3 sim. . .

    Just had the following from Vodafone;
    You can use the Vodafone SIM card in 2G as well as in 3G network.

    You could use any networks sim (apart from Three) in it. They all work on 2g/3g but Three is 3g only.

    Thanks for that.

    I just got this email from Lloyds Pharmacy (who sold the phone) after they checked with their supplier.
    I have been informed that this Phone is compatible with any sim card APART from the 3G three sim card.

    Thanks

  • My wife had trouble using a Three SIM card in a 'normal 3g' handset.. Three customer services said that Three phones had extra software installed.

    Be careful..
