They must be planning to promote you that's the way i look at it. Finger's crossed. Your next position will be higher paid. Glad you will have an easier week next week.

No, no community tax. Businesses have to pay rates, but not householders. There is a €200 charge for people with second homes - and they do not like that. I wouldn't mind paying so much to go to the tip if it was only managed properly, but it's hardly managed at all and most people stop at the booth, say they have one bag and then throw about 6 in the skips - and nobody cares. The recycling is farcical - the people who work at the tip don't care whether you recycle or not, and there's no composting recycling, or wood or metal - just the normal plastic, tin and paper. When I come over to the UK it is almost a joy to visit a tip (sad, but true) just to see how much better they are than here. People also use it as an excuse to dump rubbish in the countryside - dumping is getting much worse now. What I find most irritating is that the people who moan loudest about having to pay to throw away their rubbish are the ones who do so at the same time as buying their daily box of ciggies and bottle of wine. Oops, bit of a rant there. Sorry.

As for the bin in the back of my car, I haven't smelt it at all. And now I am wondering if that says more about me than the bin. Sadly, the answer is dawning on me ...

Is anyone going to know you stayed an hour late? Must have been useful for you, but it would be nice to know it is going to get noticed, but without you having to say anything.

SW probably imagines you just running amok in the chocolate factory for that hour. Oh, you didn't, did you?

Oooh, yes. Purely in a supporting role, of course.

No, I didn't run amok in the chocolate factory - I don't eat a great deal of it. They must realise that I am not an addict and therefore can be trusted with the keys!

The tip - Well, I pay £750 a year Community Tax so I suppose it is swings and roundabouts... but it does seem weird to pay for rubbish collection and to use the tip. My local tap is fab-u-lous..... numerous categories to chuck stuff in and these lovely men help you! They come to the car and lift out anything remotely heavy - it is brill. And, it is not because they are eyeing anything up (including me:) ) they are just really nice.

I can put my extra hours down as overtime, I think - life is a learning experience and if it turns out that this isn't appreciated and paid for then I shall just say No next time..... simples!

Polling day today - Independents (board in garden) or Tory man (helping to get rid of the nasty tree) - bit of both, I think..... sit on the fence time. There are 5 places anyway, let's keep everyone happy.

I have decided to leave work at 5pm on the dot tonight as I am feeling a bit weary. I am getting too old for this lark, and with my little cleaning job and getting up at 5.15am I am feeling a bit frazzled to say the least. I need to make friends with MrT again, he is a bit sulky when I don't get home at the expected time. just like a bloke, I suppose!

Speak later, have a good day....

    Hugs everyone

Voting day. I have already voted via a postal ballot! saves me walking 4 miles to and from my polling booth in my lunch hour.

Yay to overtime. It is distinctly chilly today but still bright. Nearly the weekend. This time next week the gang from 3dogs' thread are coming to visit me. Hooray.
