Taking Photo's of Clothes

As so many nice people are now posting here I'll give away a secret I learnt from the US ebay boards.

Many people use daylight bulbs, or those fluorescent tubes, for cheap but effective lighting, they make life much easier in these dark winter days. A long fluorescent tube can be used on its own, leaning against something like a chair.
A daylight bulb can be used with a lamp you already have, or a very cheap one, and works similarly to an expensive photographic light.
My bestest advice is to do a search specifically on the US clothing board.0 -
You get 12 free pictures - use them! If you don't have a mannequin (and even if you do) show the item laid out flat (shows off fitted waists, trouser leg styles etc) front and back then close ups of the fabric, details, labels etc. I find listings with one pic of the item on a hanger give absolutely no idea of the shape of a garment - often disguising 80's style shoulders. If you have lighting problems take a pic of the fabric with and without the flash. Don't put on blurred pics as they are a waste of time. Use a tripod or balance your camera on a stack of books etc.0

Just to echo others, good clear photos in daylight. It looks more professional on a mannequin I feel. Excellent description with any mending (if there has been) very accurately described. I always add the measurements to my items.
Prices can be variable as I've been surprised with how little interest something has generated which reflects in a low price and vice versa. Yet I've seen something similar a few weeks later get a different price.Saving money right, left and centre0
