Can I stop my partner cancelling my booking?

I have booked to go on holiday in less than a week's time. The deposit was paid by my credit card and the booking was made in my name. The remainder was paid for on my partner's credit card. The trip was supposed to be a present for my birthday (yes, I paid the deposit for my own present).
My partner and I have had an argument and he is basically threatening to cancel the holiday. He claims to have called the travel agent and said they have said he must call back tomorrow to cancel as today is Sunday and they can only cancel the booking on a working day. Is this true or is he bluffing?
If the booking is in my name, can he even cancel it? Where do I stand legally, as although he has paid for the bulk of the cost, I stand to lose hundreds of pounds which I paid as the deposit?
What can I do? Aside from removing myself from the relationship.

When did he pay the balance off? Was it months ago or just recently. Is he claiming to say he didn't make the payment and you used his card?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Only the lead name can make adjustments to the booking, as he is 'threatening' to cancel the holiday, sounds like there is still a chance for you two to patch the differences and get a well deserved break.
Otherwise it looksas if you will both lose money and get no holiday

He paid the balance in mid November and did it himself on the phone. He is not denying he paid it, he is just saying that as it came from his credit card, he has the right to cancel the booking. Can he do this?0 -

I would go alone if necessary, so if I still wish to travel, can he cancel the booking. I guess I just need to know that although the bulk was paid for by his credit card, can he cancel the whole holiday if mine is the lead name on the booking (and I paid the deposit)0 -
In short no.
Booking is in your name.
I thought he was claiming it back from his credit card company as though he hadn't made the payment. (Sorry I read it wrong)
Sounds a right one.
Don't raise to the bait and enjoy your break.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Going alone is a good alternative, I think you may need to check though as there was a loophole where it was cheaper for solo travellers to book for 2 people than pay the single supplement.
Saying that is the holiday insured?0 -

I don't think it is cheaper to book for two people than pay the single supplement in this case, so I don't think that would be an issue.
It is insured but I doubt any company would pay out for one party canceling the booking in a fit of temper.0 -
There is always the possibility that the travel agency might wrongly accept the cancellation from him. If that happens you are in a difficult situation - OK you have rights but enforcing them might be difficult.0

Have you called the travel agents today? Maybe explain to them, mentioned he has already called and was told to call back tomorrow (I doubt he even called) and ask them not to do anything without notifying you as the lead name.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

He is claiming that they said he has to call back tomorrow to cancel the booking as they can not alter the system at the weekend. I will email the agent now to ask them not to alter or cancel the booking unless they have written confirmation from me.0
