John Lewis - surprised at such bad customer service

Also, if one more person says "I have been a customer at John Lewis for a long time" I will actually shoot a kitten. It is the most infuriating thing when people say that. It's not as if we are going to turn a blind eye because you allegedly have been shopping with JL for a long time - it makes no difference whatsoever.[/QUOTE]
Guess what? I have never been a John Lewis customer before and after ordering a TV online and paying £55 for one of their TV engineers to install it badly resulting in numerous problems and shoddy customer service etc i won't be a John Lewis customer ever again!0 -
Not sure what your problems are but I have been a customer at John Lewis for a long time and never experienced any issues.0

Finally, someone with something positive to say!
If customers like this would actually post about their positive experiences, I don't think people would be as uptight about their negative experiences. On the web, it is filled with negative experiences with John Lewis, and people just love to vent themselves when something goes wrong - it's because of this, when other people have a bad experience, they will assume this is the norm, when, let's be honest - it's not.
For those who disagree and feel the service JL is bad, then shop at Argos instead.0 -
I have recently experienced some not so good customer service from John Lewis, I have submitted a review on their website of my experience couple of days ago, it has not been published yet, it would be interesting to see if they do actually publish it. Or do they filter out the bad reviews?0

OK I can finally report some positive feedback! I had bought a skirt in the sale and finally decided that I really wasn't going to wear it, it was still hanging in my wardrobe with all the labels and plastic covering but I had no idea where the receipt was. Took it back to see what they could do - no problem they said, do you have your online receipt in your email which they accepted on my phone, and I got a refund. It was within the 3 months though.0

I bought a few things in the sale only to find them further reduced within a few weeks/days (depending upon which order, as I have many with them). Anyway, rang them up to see if they could do anything and was told there was a place on their website under Never Knowingly Undersold where I could ask for a refund of the difference. Due to the complexity of my orders, I rang again and this time the lovely lady arranged for all my items (the further reduced ones) to be adjusted and refunded accordingly. So, what I could have just accepted as my bad luck, as might happen in some stores, has turned out to be fixed for me. Guess what? I will continue to make online purchases with JL knowing that this is the case. Well done, them, I say.0

The only complaint I have about John Lewis is that they delivered my washing machine too punctually! I went for the 7am-1pm slot, hoping they wouldn't turn up at 7am, yet they did. I'd have preferred a bit longer in bed!
Although to counter any suggestions of bias and those stories of "the JL delivery men were so nice", the best delivery men were from Bensons for me - the guy carried a mattress virtually on his head about 30 meters up the driveway.0 -

Is it that good a delivery experience for the item to be delivered to your door? I wouldn't expect any delivery driver to leave the item at the bottom of the drive!
Then again john Lewis delivered my TV 200 metres down the road from my house as they couldn't get through a weak bridge. I had to walk down to meet them.0 -

It was more the fact that he carried virtually on his head by himself. It was a big mattress, and his partner could've helped.0 -
I love John Lewis and have always had excellent customer service.0
