Egypt in February

Looking for a holiday for the 18th Feb for 7 nights to Sharm el Sheikh but they seem to be coming up really expensive.

I've done some research and the Hilton Fayrouz seems to be a good bet but I can't find any packages with this hotel included and when I look individually they seem to only offer B&B I would like AI.

Flights also coming up expensive.

Can anyone recommend any sites? Was hoping to spend about £1500 for 2 adults and 1 child but prices for a good standard of hotel seems to be coming up more like £2000 which is a bit steep for a week.

Any suggestions please?

    Hi There,
Think that this date is just about the half term school holiday so you could struggle to get a deal around that time - can you go earlier or later maybe?

We go to Sharm alot, although we stay Nabq due to the kitesurfing there. It's relatively cheap however we were looking at going that week too taking our DD and it is purely down to school hols that week I'm afraid.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I like the Fayrouz but I find it is always quite expensive. I've only ever booked indepedently so can't suggest a package company. It is slap bang in the middle of the pedestrian walkway in Naama so you are only minutes from all sorts of restuarants, bars and mini-marts. There's not the same need to go all-inclusive as there is at some of the other resorts which can be isolated.

Thanks, what are food and drink prices like?

Not as dear as Hiltons in the UK but they are a bit higher than the restuarants & bars in Naama. I have to admit to making up cheese/meat rolls with stuff from the breakfast buffet and having that for lunch usually. I don't actually drink much alcohol so haven't ever noticed the prices. The dinner in the main restaurant is a themed buffet and was about £15, I think. You can get burgers and toasties and different things in the bar. I really don't eat much in the hotel as there are so many other places to try.

I can recommend Grand Sharm Hotel ( i think now called Royal Grand Sharm). Thh best advice about Egypt - never pay the price stated on the website. Email or call them (ask to speak to manager), say when you want to come and what's the best price they can offer, refuse the first price and haggle. Most of all be very friendly.

I lived in Egypt for a while and would never pay package price.

And lot of hotels in Egypt offer different prices depending where you coming from - UK is on top of the price list.

We're the same don't drink much but was wondering what the prices are like in the restaurants near by if we didn't go all inclusive?

The Hilton Fayrouz doesn't offer all inclusive, the hilton dreams its sister hotel (which is behind it and uses the same beach) offers all inclusive and is quite reasonably priced.
We stayed all inclusive in Naama bay at the stella di mare and even though we ate out a couple of times, we were glad we were all inclusive as the hassle is abit annoying.

The cheapest way we found to book this hotel was book b+b hotel only with first choice, flights with Easyjet and upgrade to all inc at the hotel.
Hotel was £120 for 5 nights
    Flights were £100 return pp
upgrade to AI was £44pp pn

The thing I liked was you could upgrade to all inclusive for as many or as few nights as you wanted doing it this way.
    £100 - £10,000
  • If you do a search on Travel Republic for naama bay you'll find numerous hotels, most with AI for around £100 - £200 each, some with transfers included. Its the flights that are expensive!!

Ive stopped in the Sharm Dreams, Sonesta Sharm Resort and both are brilliant, would recomend the Sonesta! :) (both 5*!)

Whereabouts is the Sonesta Sharm Resort, please?

I have stayed at the Sonesta Beach (4star) at the end of the prom and I know of a Sonesta Club (3star) on the "desert" side of the highway but I haven't heard of the Sonesta Sharm Resort. The Sonesta Beach was OK but I had initially to ask for a change of room. It is at one end of prom rather than right in the middle like the Fayrouz. Also, I found their beach pretty small and worse than the Fayrouz's for hawkers.
