    Hi all,

Thanks again for all of the replies.

I have downloaded Open Office onto my old laptop just to give it a try and it seems ok but I haven't a clue how to make the documents I created in word open with Open Office 'cos that's what will have to happen with my new laptop.

Is it possible to do what I'm proposing? If it is possible can someone tell me how to do it, 'cos even if I buy microsoft office I think I'll still have the same problem. Thanks again to dipsomaniac for the web address.

All the info. provided is very much appreciated. kje.

Open office will automatically open Office documents. You will get a new file association .
