Savings account for my dog!!

Hi,
you might get a better rate with an off shore account.

This article says 'If you hold a dog fund then you owe it to yourself to consider redeploying your funds elsewhere'
So definitely a savings account rather than a dog fund
I came, I saw, I melted0 -
50 a month is enough to get a tracker fund in something. Index funds I like are FTSE 250, Global tech, CRB (commodities) index and Asia Pacific
All of them will cost 1% or less per year and rise way more then savings.
Google hl or landg for funds among others
If you dont do that then I agree with the person saying just get insurance.
I believe insurance costs will rise faster then savings this is because insurance will increase with inflation and savings are set to lose money in comparison0 -
My dog has never made a withdrawal; but actually has made a deposit... just outside a bank....0

I believe all the banks in Barking have good interest rates atm! Specially for dog owners the best bank being (Barklays)0

OP have you seen the article about pet insurance on the main site?
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/cut-pet-insurance-costs
If you have decided to take the risk and have a savings account rather than the security of paying for insurance, then assuming the money in your dog's account will be needed I guess it will need to be instant access so that you can get at your money when it is needed. So something like the Post Office account (with the 12 month boneus) will be appropriate. Remember to ensure that both you and your dog are joint signatories as your dog if in treatment may not be able to attend the post office to withdraw the money (edit silly me it is an internet account so just a case of your dog telling you the password, incidentally make sure the password is not something easily guessable such as 'walkies'). See the main savings article at
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest
Being serious again are you sure that you could fund (say) £1,500 for treatment if the worst were to happen before sufficient funds had built up in the account?I came, I saw, I melted0 -
Do dogs pay taxes on any interest on savings account?
If they do its a bit of a woof deal
