Most credit card companies aren't keen on positive balances oncc accounts (I don't know why ?) so you should get a refund easily, unless you are planning to use the card soon ;).

Regulatory risk. Deposit taking is a different kind of business and imposes different compliance obligations (eg money laundering checks etc). Whilst its against T+Cs and CCs have a policy of not allowing positive balances to run, they will be OK despite the odd "situation" such as this.

I had the same thing (only £11 though), but one phone call sorted it out. They just refunded it to the same account the DD came from.

I don't think they will refund you unless you ask though as my £11 sat there for ten months.
  • It's not going to be a positive balance though, is it, if the MINIMUM payment was £50.

it will be, if i am reading the origional post right, they transferred the full balance to halifax before the direct debit due date, so thererfore when the £50 direct debit was taken the account would have already been at £0 because of the BT, therefore customers account would have a positive balence of £50

I wish it was a positive balance, alas there's still a bit left on it! :{ I blame stingy halifax credit limits
