Did you disable defender realtime scanning?

It seems faster now, there's some lag when you first start it up but after 5 mins everything runs smoother now

I suppose the only way to get it completely responsive is to do a complete reinstall

Do I need to run any other anti malware software or will malwarebytes be enough?

Yes, I did disable real time protection

You have some nokia software running all the time, if you don't need it, uninstall or disable at startup

The roxio services and dell DSBrokerService don't need to be running all the time either, can be disabled using msconfig

if you did a full (not quick) malwarebytes scan, and updated it, that should be enough, but if you want a third opinion, try a hitmanpro scan

Hmm that's weird, because in msconfig, only 3 things are ticked for start up :

avast, intel matrix storage manager and windows defender

the rest including nokia, roxio and dell are disabled (and lots of others like itunes, quicktime, adobe reader etc)

is windows defender really that unnecessary?

If you go into services.msc, you can set them to manual, automatic, or disabled, setting them to manual may work, googleupdater doesn't need to be running
