It looks like you put the cone over the babys' willy and he wees into that. what's wrong with just a nappy, I really don't know!

Crikey - sounds like they need to go on my "must-have" list!!;)

They're supposed to be used in the time between taking one nappy off & putting the next one on - which I work out to be around 10 seconds once you get into the swing of things! :rotfl:

they have to be an american invention............! new mums will quickly get the hang of changing nappies without getting wee- ed on! just undo the nappy (if solids are present clean baby up and leave wetwipes on top of the solids , then leave over the baby bits - open up new nappy and slide underneath the baby and old nappy. grasp babies ankles and elevate the bum a bit - with other hand whip old nappy away and drop to one side then using same hand bring the new nappy up between babies legs. fasten the nappy!
    SIMPLES!!!
Its a bit different for terry nappies but at no time do you leave the babies bits in the cold air - even covering with a tissue can make a difference.

In just over one year, I've been sprinkled on twice. Don't think I'll be bothering with a teepee.

Bottle of sterlizing fluid - Asda to there own version one for 80p. If you buy any second hand plastic stuff then you can quickly, easily and cheapily steralize it. I LOVED my over the bath baby bath for my eldest son BUT they are so expensive new - got one for £1 at a car boot plus 80p for the fluid.... fab solution.

Ebay is fab - got a chaning unit (ikea one cupboard with chaning top) local pick up and it cost me just under £6.

Nursery value is a fab web site if you want any petite star things (i got a reconditioned petite star city but from there - travel system - for £60!).

kiddicare.com is also good for big items - such as travel cot.

don't get hooked into the fashion thing, babies are not fashion accessories, I could never spend hundreds of pounds on a fashion buggy (the city bug suits all my needs - fashion ones don't) i could not justify £50 for a changing bag.... or silly money for first size Nike trainners. Babys just don't need branded things like that.

everyones needs vary - for us a travel cot is an essential, and we bought one from kiddicare with a bassinett bit so don't need to buy a moses basket.

I have a baby fund jar - rather than buying loads now I am popping money in there (we don't know the sex they don't tell you here and I can't justify spending mega money to find out). So when baby is here I can shop for what I need, in the colour I need and not have to worry aboutthe money. Its annoying if you buy loads of clothes etc... and then you get given loads (new or secondhand) it seems such a waste.

Also if you are not adverse to second hand (I am not but I know some people are) put the word around it is amazing what people will give you (yes ocassionally you get some naff stuff but I was given for my eldest some, some absolutely amazing stuff)

LOL @ the peepee teepees!! I was actually going to buy one as someone in work recommended them, until I saw the price!! A baby wipe flung over his willy will do rightly!! :rotfl:

    My baby essentials would be:

    vests and babygros

    bibs

a travel system that fits in your car & lies flat so you can have baby in from birth (NOT what I done - I've got one that's too big for the car and has a separate carrycot which at 7 weeks my baby is almost too big for, and I can't put him in the buggy part as it doesn't lay flat...grrr...)

a bouncy chair to plonk them in when you need to go to the loo, eat etc - good when they are too big to pop in the moses basket

a moses basket (but second hand / borrowed - my little man only got five weeks out of his) - this was great for sleeping downstairs and then we carried it upstairs at night and put it in the cot. We also brought with us when going to my mums etc for the afternoon.

    sleeping bags

MAM anti colic bottles - you sterilise them by themselves in the microwave so no need to buy a steriliser, plus if I'm out for the day I only need to bring one bottle (as long as I'm at someones house and have access to water and a microwave)

    The little formula pots

A flask for hot water for bottles

hmmm, think that's it really!! a bag to put the nappies and stuff in is good too, but doesn't have to be a specific baby changing bag. I've got the one that comes free when you join the boots parenting club and buy a packet of pampers, and I love the changing mat that comes with it.

Oh and now I REALLY want one of those morrock blankets - having a winter baby, it's been such a faff getting him in and out of snowsuits all the time!! So much for not spending money!! :o

    xx
