Changing name on Land Registry

Hi
My wife and I are wondering how we go about changing her name on the land registry.
We bought our place a few years ago before we were married and her maiden name is the name registered.
After getting married we were told we will need to inform the land registry.
Someone else has mentioned to me the AP1 form which looks complicated simply to changing the name on the deeds. As when changing the surname with banks, dvla and passport office were very straight forward.
Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance.

Call the Land Registry.
And speak to your lender if you hae a mortgage as you may need their permission.0 -
The person we spoke to at the land registry simply said to fill out the AP1 form which we have now received but it is 6 pages long and the questions dont seem to relate to the change of name.
Also we have spoken to our mortgage provider and changed our name with them already which was fairly straight forward.0 -
TBH I wouldn't bother. When you come to sell you can provide a copy of your marriage certificate to confirm that she is who she says she is.Piglet

will this not slow down the sale of the property?0 -
It shouldn't slow a sale down. When I sold my previous property it was still registered in my old married name. I'd divorced between the purchase of the house and selling it. ALll I had to do was show the solicitor my divorce papers. I assume it would work the other way round as well (although someone more knowledgeable will be able to confirm, or not soon).:rotfl:0

Yep as long as the documentary evidence is there (marriage cert in the OP's case) then there won't be any delay. It's quite straightforward and quite common.Piglet

Totally agree!RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

With the form in hand, speak to HMLR again and get advise on each of the sections and their applicability. I have found HMLR to be most helpful.

No need to change names in order to sell/buy. I have recently bought and sold in my previous married name. Always have my new marriage cert with me just in case but so long as you can prove your identity to your solicitor it all goes through.0

nonsense.
OP, do nothing as you can produce your certificate next time you effect a change to your deeds...i.e remortgage or sell.My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:
My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o0
