Give up . Buy yourself a card reader . Take sd card from camera and stick it into reader , EASY.
Have never used any software with a camera for well over ten years.
So ... if I was able to buy a USB extension and put the camera card into it, could I then somehow copy the camera photos to the My Pictures part of my computer?
And/or ... is there a way of getting camera pictures to my previous picture editor ZoomBrowserEx - which I am more familiar with - rather than using PHOTOfunSTUDIO? ZoomBrowser seems to automatically get all the pictures from My Pictures and store them. Just need to know how to get them from A to B!0 -
Yes thats what everyone is saying. The SD card from your camera will appear as another disk drive. You can then drag and drop the picture files into My Pictures or anywhere else you desire.
Picasa for example will do this intelligently, and also index all the picture files on your PC as well.

PS Hope you have plenty of disk space as on full resolution the TZ10's picture files will be quite big.
PPS Page 141 tells you how to connect and use the camera with a PC:-

A quick question , does anyone use the software provided , on any camera ?
just checked its been more like 13 years since I bothered even to take the disc out of the box.0 -
Not me. Camera manufacturers are not noted for their efforts with software, horses for courses. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

One of the reasons I choose to ignore the software with my Fuji/Canon -- much of the time it just 'hangs' and slows the entire process down // I just use Windows Explorer //BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

Once the camera is connected to the computer via a USB lead, you just need to copy/paste them from one folder to another. With the camera connected, go to 'Computer' or 'My Computer' and look for the camera as a removable device. Explore the folders within the camera until you get to the lowest-level folder containing the pictures.
The camera should have been supplied with a USB lead, and the instruction manual should tell you which one it is, and where it connects to the camera.0 -
Using one of the the cables supplied (USB for computer and smaller end fits to camera) I have connected the two together, but then I hit problems. It comes up with "please select the USB mode", either Pictbridge or PC, and I select PC. It then states "connecting to PC" and comes up with a zigzag symbol but then cannot get it to go any further.
Once you've got to this stage, is the camera visible in 'Computer' or 'My Computer' ???0 -
The zig zag shows its communicating with the PC, and as you say should be visible.
Still wondering what Operating system OP is using.
I see the TZ10 has an HDMI port and GPS well impressed, time to upgrade my TZ3 methinks! That gum you like is coming back in style.0
