Panasonic Lumix TZ10 - Loading pics from camera to computer

Have recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix TZ10 and am having problems loading pictures from the camera to my computer, although I have printed a couple of photos directly from the camera to the printer. However, I want to be able to load camera pictures to the My Pictures part of my PC.

Using one of the the cables supplied (USB for computer and smaller end fits to camera) I have connected the two together, but then I hit problems. It comes up with "please select the USB mode", either Pictbridge or PC, and I select PC. It then states "connecting to PC" and comes up with a zigzag symbol but then cannot get it to go any further.

There is another cable supplied which has a connection to the camera and then three coloured ends, red yellow and white, but not sure what to do with this as the two similar looking connections on the front of my PC are pink and light green.

I have tried inserting the CD supplied with the camera into my CD drive, but nothing comes up on the computer.

Help!!

Give up . Buy yourself a card reader . Take sd card from camera and stick it into reader , EASY.
Have never used any software with a camera for well over ten years.

Shirley you have more than a couple of USB ports?
The lead with the coloured ends is for connecting to your TV so you can display slide shows videos etc.

Have you tried reading the handbook to learn how to load the supplied software, although as above I wouln't use it. Much better with something like Picasa.

Firstly well done on the fantastic choice of camera. Can you be a bit more specific "what darned thing are you talking about? if it's the usb lead, haven't you got more than 1 usb socket in your pc? If not you can get a hub. Going back to the original point, what is asking you whether to use the PC or Picbridge - the PC or Camera. Personally I'd cancel this if it''s on the PC and jus use Windows to find and copy the photos - the camera should show up as either another device or disc - just open it and copy the photos to your hard drive.

If -- if -- the camera is detected then use Windows file and drag to copy/move photos -- it's what i do with my camera //

Thanks for all the help - knew I could rely on you lot!!

Firstly, I have two USB ports. I have had my present computer several years.

Secondly, although I purchased a USB card reader, I cannot use it as it is largish and when it has the card in it will not fit in conjunction with the mouse USB right next to it. And of course, I need the mouse. If I understand rightly(?) a hub is a USB that can add more USB ports to my computer??

Thirdly, what is Picasa? It is another Photosuite type installation, and if so, why is it better than the Panasonic PHOTOfunSTUDIO?

Finally, I have managed to find another booklet which details how to download the PHOTOfunSTUDIO in the event that it does not load, which it wouldn't, so can follow those instructions.

Buy yourself a short USB extension lead.
I can't believe you have never heard of Picasa.
Don't Panasonic supply manuals any more?

BTW What operating system are you using?

Penrhyn - thanks for your suggestions - I may well end up getting a USB extension now that I know there is such a thing ...

No, I have never heard of Picasa, but I guess that not only are there things in life that I have never heard of that you have, but there are things in life that you have never heard of but that I have ... that's life!!
