My contract has just ran out so I went into the Orange shop nearby to see what they could offer. They brought up my details and saw that I was eligible for an upgrade. All they offered was an iphone 4 for £130 approx or and iphone 3gs for around 50 plus my contract of £30 per month.
This iphone deal is the same as for a new customer but I was expecting something better than this. I'd also like to reduce my tariff.
I was in a bit of a hurry at the time as needed to get back to my car before getting fined, and had only popped in on the way, so would like to go back and see if they can offer any better but would like to know what people on here think I could get.
I'm also open to suggestions for iphone deals from other companies.
Thank you.

Hey,
From what I've heard before from networks and friends, Apple are the ones who have most of the power with the iPhone tariffs so the networks dont really get much power. If your wanting to save money always ring the retentions department, these are the people with the power of deals, all the stores can give is 10% off usually for an upgrade offer.
If you want to save money mostly Id personally suggest that you don't get an iPhone and go for Windows Phone 7 or Android as you could do the same things, but thats just my opinion.
Hope this helps.

Richard is right.
You are extremly unlikly to get anything off an iPhone. Apple set the tarrifs and don't permit much discounting (you may get something like a coproate diso!!!! depending who you work for). You also have to pay the "standard" iphone tarrifs, you can't use a no iphone plan unless you aquire the iPhone and the contract seperatly (ir you buy a sim free iphone anhd keep your existing plan).
You either pay the going rate or don't get an iPhone. Other smartphones you'll get discounted just not the iPhone, and bear in mind they are selling well Apple have no need to discount them to clear stocks , and the fact they only refresh the line once a year means the iPhone does not become outdated as badly as most other phones.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I'm just looking through phone reviews at the moment and feel the htc desire hd would be a good alternative, bar the battery life.0 -

The HTC is a good alternative and is a handset I would choose over the iphone, however if it is an iphone you want then get an iphone, as if you get something else , in the back of your mind you may still want an iphone, would strongly suggest whatever handset you decide to go for, buy it outright and get a sim only deal , at least then you are not tied to a provider or handset for a ridiculous amount of time :j0 -

I'm not really bothered about what phone as long as web browsing is good. With the Desire it seems to be really good, what with it having a bigger screen.
Just seems like iphones were the way to go but looking into it, there seems to be better alternatives.0 -

I have an ipod touh which I used at work as I could get onto Openzone, however now that I have installed the app onto my handset (Satio) I no longer use the ipod touch for web browsing, both devices are good, just work different ways for the web :cool:0
