People are very unaware generally of their rights when having their car repaired... Like I say we repair 20,000 cars a year so we see it all.

For that price you could have bought the thing.

I've seen quite a few of these, it would be interested to see what the value of the car that was being repaired or written off. It's not that unusual to see a car worth £1500 but car hire costs or £3000.

Hopefully the Insurers can pull their fingers out and get on the ball with arranging their own car hires when their customer is at fault. Unfortunately court cases have been working against them recently which play into the hands of the Credit Hire companies

Sadly some of the credit hire companies still write their indemnities that as they have incurred the cost on behalf of the client when an insurer refuses or delays paying out they summons either their own customer or the other side to flush the insurer into action.

This lady will not have to pay the amount as the insurer will step in and defend the claim. Furthermore there are a number of test cases where such ridiculous claims have been thrown out and mitigated down to sensible amounts.

As you all said earlier the industry does have parts of it that's are like the wild west but we and insurers are slowly closing the opportunities for these type of companies.

If you goggle a few of the biggest names which I won't mention for fear of bring defamatory you'll notice the industry is going to have many casualties.

My attitude is insurer friendly and don't be greedy

I'm customer friendly, (not that insurers shouldn't make a fair profit though, it just shouldn't feel like a game of poker with the devil)

As to another favourite of mine, the auto-renew, and punitive cancellation charge.
Wonder if these may cover it from the previous link.
