Virgin retentions?

I am currently with Virgin, and have TV, phone and BB, paying approx £58 per month. This seems to be rising almost monthly, and I am looking to reduce payments. Have been with NTL/Virgin probably 5 yrs or so.

I get a great BB connection, and the TV is very reliable (have the + box). I have compared prices with Sky, and this seems to work out at £37 or so, including line rental, sufficient TV channels, Unltd phone and the lite BB package. Only downside is an estimated 2mb BB speed....we are a way from the exchange.

So, I would rather stay, but wonder if anyone has experience of Virgin retentions?

I have not yet compared the BT hub.....seems to be varying opinions of this?

Read this very long thread of people's experiences.

If you are on VM cable, then unless you first get a BT line put in for delivery of broadband via ADSL, you have no alternative but VM-there are no other cable suppliers.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • No worries....I have a land line, and Sky would deal with the rental (says so on their website).

Yes but do you have an ADSL ( BT ) line or a cable (Virgin ) line - they are different.
  • Ah, probably cable then...it used to be ADSL, but probably changed.

I presume Sky would take care of that side? Anyhow, I hope to stay with V if the deal is right.

I used to contract for bt home IT, the broadband isnt very good. If you want a reliable adsl o2 broadband is cheap and fast. You will no matter what adsl provider have the speed issue if you are distant from the exchange

So if you have VM TV, then you have a VM cable phone service-no ADSL is possible until you get a BT line in. I think Sky charge around £80 for an install?
