washing machine grinding noise...

  • Simple bearing test, open door, push down hard on the drum with palm of your hand whilst moving from left to right. Any rumbling felt means bearings compromised by ingress of water (rusting)

    Sounds like beginnings of bearing failure, but impossible to diagnose via written description.

    No more grinding noise when i move the drum as suggested.

    Can't get the back off becaue it has those 'funny' star shaped screw heads. can I get bits for those?

    yes. best way is to buy those cheap sets of bits.
    most of em contain a selection of funny star bits.
    Get some gorm.
