If I pay a lump sum before min pmt date with min pmt still come out

Halifax do this. My min payment is only £5 but they still take it even if I've paid off £50 earlier in the month. It surprised me too as I was used to Egg which only takes it if there has been no other payment (over the min)0

Some CC companies work that way. With my Barclaycard, for example, if I make a manual payment (in good time!), the direct debit gets reduced by that amount.
My Santander, Silvercard, Vanquis CCs however all still collect the direct debit regardless of any manual payments...
I have a Santander Zero card and if I pay manually in good time it the DD amount is adjusted.
On the rear of my statement it says that if you make a payment more than 5 days before the payment due date they will adjust the DD.
Not sure if similar systems operate with any other banks.
