in Credit cards
Hi all I'm foreign in the UK. Thanks if any body can help me.
I used to live in one flat, then moved to another.
The situation looks like when my partner (before with an excellent credit rate) applied fro credit card and then get refused. We thank that our previous address has some problem! I have no idea, as somebody used to live there before us there.
What we have to do? Who we have to contact? We want to report somewhere or do something as in future we're going to buy some property in the UK and that is can spoil ours names..
Thank you very much for any help.

Previous occupiers don't affect your rating. Check your reports and see what else is on there.0

We went once to Lloyd's bank for open joint account. We were already on this address. After checking security told us that is some problem (even I'm with them around 3 years). Then after checking US we've opened a joint account but understood from banks stuff that the problem is in the address..
Thanks for you answer zx810 -
You need to check your credit reports . These will let you see what records are held about you and should let you see what the problem is. It may be a simplemistake which can be corrected. Lenders will use these records to make decisions about lending.
I agree with zx81 about the address. It won't be relevant.0 -

Thank you. Will do it. If any mistakes there, can we correct/change it somehow? Or just with time it is become better?0 -
As a foreigner are you on the electoral role? ( if EU you could be for local/European elections), as this is the norm for proof of address, if not / not possible I'm sure that I've seen entries in the past that people have proved their address to Credit Reference agencies by other methods.0

My partner is British citizen and he is in Electoral Role exactly with our previous address (which has anyway some problem). Elections last year.
I'm not there as I foreigner here.
We've looked in partner's credit reports and nothing unusual there.0 -

This is correct, however what DOES affect things are
1-Time you have lived at the address, anytime you move your file will take a small hit as you move through <6 months at address, <1 year at address etc etc. Not much you can do abotu that one
2- Electoral role seems VERY high on lenders lists these days, make sure you are on the electoral role at your new address -did you inform the local council when you moved in, have the confirmed/indicated they updated their record?
3-Postcode can sometimes be taken into account i *think* but if it is it will be a minor factor0 -
