Guys firstly can I remind you all to refrain from requesting pms regarding swapping of books or offering/asking peoples help in distributing the books.

Why can't I give something to/buy something from someone on the forum?
The safety of our forum users is paramount and for this reason we can't allow anyone to exchange their personal details either on the open forum or via PM, however honourable the intention.

This means we don't allow selling/trading/exchanging/swapping or giving as gifts, nor links to your ebay auctions, or other forms of advertising.

To be honest, just writing the numbers inside the cover of each book is probably a waste of time as no-one will know what on earth the numbers are for unless you explain it.

The WBN numbers are also part of the book crossing scheme, so I suggest downloading some of these free labels from the book-crossing website and writing the numbers on those before sticking them in the book. I have just printed them on plain A4 paper and will be using pritt stick to stick them in.

Here is the link to the labels - there are 10 per sheet, so print 5 sheets out and sit down with a glass of wine to fill them in!

I'd also like to remind people that when you signed up to the World Book Night Giveaway, they agreed to a set if strict terms and conditions. One of these conditions is that books aren't to be given away until the 5th of March.

Also you signed up to give away these books NOT to swap the books with others so that you can get yourself a copy of each of the twenty five titles.

Well, personally I dont think that swapping 3-5 books is a big deal considering we have 48 to give away. Still plenty left!

As for the numbers, mine are in order, so it shouldnt be that hard, just a little longer than planned, as I first thought we would have stickers provided or that the books themselves would have a special barcode printed...

You might want to ignore my earlier post because I just discovered that there is actually a place inside the back cover which is specially printed with a box to write the code in and with info explaining what to do with it. I only discovered it when trying to find a place to stick my stickers and realised that I couldn't put them in the front without covering up some other printing!

I must say that I am getting slightly irritated about receiving up to 100 copies of emails from the WBN website informing me that various people have 'added a wall post'. This is obviously a glitch as I have even logged in to the site in order to change my profile and block these notifications only to find that the 'no' option was already selected for receiving wall post updates! I have emailed the WBN email address to ask if they can sort this out.

I received the email with the clicky to activate the account which still does not work!! I have cut and pasted and done everything possible no joy! I also went on to the website to re activate my account and still have had no email to enable me to do this.

The login is you email address and the password is as mentioned above is march5th. Any one suceeded yet. This is turning into a nightmare 48 books to fill in and no way of getting on the website.

    Oh bother!!

It is a nuisance that you can't register on the website, but to be honest I wouldn't worry about it. You can fill the numbers in the books and hand them out as planned. It is the recipient who then enters the number into the website each time the book is passed on.

The only other thing that it appears to me that you can do in the members area is to 'join' a group related to your book and post comments about it and read other people's comments. To be honest it's not very exciting and the website is still crashing all over the place so I would just give up for now.

My 10 digit  code arrived this morning, I expected it to be about 4 digits.

I've been trying to log on to the site for a few days. This morning when I went on to the site I was already logged in, must've done it yesterday when I gave up the site as it was slow.
